For this episode, I decided to share a story like wisdom tale. I run through my personal experience with my real estate mentor, why having a mentor/life teacher is so valuable, where you can find one and what to look for when that person comes along. As I mentioned in the episode, when one becomes aware that there is a lot to learn and discover, teachers will find you. May it be the way of the universe or the algorithms of social media. They will come!
Sharing a quote that my mentor told me when I first started my business in my early 20's. It's something that I always took to heart. I explore what it means to me and how I see this podcast and what my intentions are when it comes to what I decide to create and share.
I share an exercise I have been using to better understand what NOT to do when looking to accomplish a certain objective. Then, I invert those answers to find what I MUST do for a desired result. I completely winged this episode on the spot for authenticity. There could be lack of clarity in certain thoughts. None the less the exercise has been wonderful for me to understand what to stay away from when I'm striving to be the best version of myself in a given domain. Let me know if you ever have done something like this and if it has benefited your process.
Sharing my thoughts on a mindset that held me back for so long. Fair warning, this episode is not for everyone. I say some hard truths and essentially refer to a past version of myself that needed to hear the contents of this episode. Continue at your own discretion.
Hope you brought your floater cause this episode is a DEEP one. I attempt to articulate a feeling. (You'll decide if I sound absolutely mad or make sense). Hope you enjoy. Live, laugh, love.
Does it ever happen to you that you catch yourself repeating the same things over and over? It happens to me, until this episode I didn't really know why. I explore that concept in this episode. I'll let you, the listener decide what to take from it.
I CAME PREPARED! Sort of. At least I got some cool self awareness opportunities from preparing for this episode. Hope you enjoyed the first prepared episode.
Intending to be more prepared for situations that are important to me or can have impact on my life’s experience/situation. I tend to improv or “wing” situations because its so much fun. Preparation is boring let’s be honest. As much as i love flowing like water; effortlessly, formless and directionless. It’s also important that i implement the opposite of improvising. That would be preparation. If theres one thing i love as much as winging it, is a fun challenge. So I’ll challenge myself to prepare more for future episodes to provide a more articulated and fully thought out recording that hopefully gets a clearer message across and some personal evolution is always good for the soul.
Important takeaway; everything has its opposite. We tend to focus on one side, which is usually the one we favour. Although, there is so much value in being open to the opposite or polarity. In this example my lesson is improvising vs preparation. They both have their place. Practicing both because harmony and balance can be very useful when it comes to life.
I share a situation where I finally trusted myself and my own journey over what the external was showing me. In the past, I let the example I speak about get to me and I overcame that recently. Listen to the episode and create your own meaning to the message i am conveying. How you understand it, is how you’re supposed to interpret it in this moment.
It’s not a simple task to get people to understand us. We all been in situations where we gave up on trying to be understood and started resenting others as a consequence or arguing away on deaf ears. The first step i took was to starting to understand myself and what i needed so i can start being interdependent in situations and relationships. I came to the realization that if being affected by being misunderstood was so frustrating, it’s because i didn’t understand myself to begin with. How did i expect myself to understand others if i didn’t even understand myself? Its not an easy task because if we understood ourselves so easily that would mean we’re simple and easy to figure out. Each of us is so complex and unique that only we can find our own truth. The most important takeaway is; understand ourselves first, that’s something that can only be done on your own or through guidance of a professional or emotionally intelligent individual.
Now for the episode, I offer a little taste of the mindset shift i made to get more out of my relationships and how i handle situations better by implementing this approach.
I do want to mention that i am still working on this and tend to disregard others in situations where i should be more mindful, although i am aware and constantly adjusting if i should put my energy in a individual, interaction, situation or not. It’s tough to master. Im not meant to understand everyone and personally, im not here to people please. I implement this mostly for relationships who hold value to me and thats what i try give back as a thank you for their presence. Ill practice expanding that when i see fit.
As usual, there is no directed advice. Just a story and a principle i live by. If you wish, take what you need or disregard it. Everyone is on their own individual journey. I embrace that!
