As we launch or lurch into a new year I’m feeling the internal nudge to reflect on and question my feels, my patterns, my progress, my values, my environment.
We’ve got another bumpy ride ahead of us and I hope we all get a moment, or several, to reflect and adjust as needed.

What we believe about ourselves starts to take shape from day one. The holidays aren’t just hard on grown people without partners or families or tons of money or beliefs that support a tradition like Christmas… Holidays are also hard on kids that, for better or worse, often come to believe in something bigger than themselves- We call it Santa… Later in life many will call it God.
To be disregarded or forgotten is an unfortunate reality of life at times. One which, I think we can all agree, should never happen to a child. No one gets it exactly right but the good news is that most people are out here being real helpers. Holiday or not your awareness and presence in this life will only lead to better- Everyday in every way.

Ghosting isn’t just reserved for romantic relationships either. We see it in “friendships”, potential employers, volunteer hopefuls. It’s everywhere!

Ghosting, icing someone out- whatever you call it, for better or worse it’s become a common practice.

Empathy leads to action and action is the ONLY way to make change happen. I’ve partnered with @cupcakegirlsorg to make change happen and I’m asking for that you join me. Together we can help this 501c3 nonprofit, non-religious organization continue to do the work they are here to do.

The Cupcake Girls work to provide confidential support to those in the sex industry, as well as those affected by domestic sex trafficking.

In 1492
Columbus sailed the ocean blue

Seeking fortune and fame
By mistake to the Caribbean he came

On his first day, six natives he seized
This bozo did as he pleased

Ushering in native oppression
All for a little extra possession

European colonization would begin to unfold
And the truth was never to be told

Settlers began to take a land already occupied
Destroying with disease, violence, and treaties that belied

Pilgrims, claiming to seek religious freedom
Natives showed up to feed ‘em

Invasion, brutality and forced assimilation
Is really what started a nation

This was not a discovery of new land
It was a discovery of character for which I do not stand

Columbus Day is out
Real history is what we must shout.

There’s got to be a more reasonable and sustainable and humane way to lessen agricultural emissions 🤔🤔🤔
