Saint Patrick... lived during the fifth century, is, of course, the patron saint of Ireland… And Legend has it that Patrick was brought to Ireland by pirates who kidnapped him when he was 16 years old! He was enslaved but eventually escaped and then later returned and was credited with bringing Christianity to to the people of Ireland… Legend has stood on an Irish hillside and delivered a sermon that drove the island’s serpents into the sea. Apparently there are no snakes on the Emerald Isle which is fascinating to me! Another legend is that Patrick used the Irish clover to explain the holy trinity which gave us the iconic Irish shamrock that we see so often today. Of course Saint Patrick’s Day has evolved into more oof a secular holiday over the centuries.Fun fact… The first St. Patrick’s day parade was actually held in America… And yall know we love a good parade! So many of the ancestors of Irish Americans had to fight stereotypes and racial prejudice to survive and gain some measure of acceptance in the New World.So many people in this country are still fighting stereotypes and racial prejudices.I can’t help but think about the hate crime committed against the asian Americans in Atlanta last night. Prejudice rooted in American history that leads to violence…. It’s a familiar story.IMO there is absolutely no weapon that brings peace. There just isn’t. And what I think I have failed to understand until this past year is that The retouch of extremist, racist, and hate groups are weapons. Make no mistake ideas that devalue another person or a group of people are weapons. These are the ideas that groom and move people to commit acts of terrorism in their own country against their fellow citizens. It ain’t cute. It ain’t brave. And it sure as hell isn’t patriotic.Pay attention to the ideas you give your energy to. Pay attention to the ideas of the people around you.Remember, there is no epics to small to be heard! ❤️@tiny.mic.micro.news

Afghan citizens will soon have their mothers’ names printed along with their fathers’ on their ID cards.
Equal pay for women soccer players in Brazil and Sierra Leone.

Yall! The patriarchy is being ushered out and, folks, the future is female.
This month is not only Womens history month but will also mark a year of navigating a global pandemic for most of us. I know I’ve been reflecting on that a lot lately because a year ago this girl was in a vastly different place than I am today. There’s another woman that I can’t help but think about lately… On March 13th it will be a year since the unjust death of Beonna Taylor. And for me she might be the most influential woman of the past year.
For all women, all femme presenting humans, and all the people who love us lets rise together and move together so no lives lost will have been in vein. We will not put down our Black Lives Matter signs. We will not end the micro activism. We will not take a back seat on gender inequality. History does repeat it’s self. Our personal histories. Our family histories. The history of the world.
Let’s continue to rewrite the story ladies. Let’s give the future something worthy of repeating. Equality, inclusion, human rights.

We’ve all heard the question, “What would you do if you knew you could not fail?” Well, I want to know what you could do if you took what you learned and truly forgave yourself for each failure?
So let’s talk self forgiveness… Choosing self acceptance and allowing the grief is how we wake up to the power and the potential of our impact.
Let’s be about acknowledging and understanding the pain we’ve caused. Let’s be about accepting ourselves despite our mistakes, missteps, and lessons. Let’s be about healing ourselves to heal the collective.
Let’s be about acknowledging the trauma of a nation. Let’s be about doing the work to heal and course correct.

If you’re not sure I’d like to offer you a few Ideas… Because February is Black History Month and that’s the celebration.
And in case you missed the bus on the Black Lives Matter Movement this list is gonna take you to school. I recommend starting from the bottom and working your way up the list, it will require more effort but you get out what you put in. And remember it will always be important to read the stories of folks you do not know.

I want to talk about friction and stability and how sometimes we need a little friction to find our stability in where we stand or in what we’re trying to accomplish.
The marches many of participated in this summer, the black owned and indigenous businesses we chose to recognize and support- that’s the revolution. That is the spark of social justice. That is community. That was the popular vote last November. What we saw last Thursday at the Capital was a planned coo and an embarrassment.
The call right now is to allow the friction to stabilize you in what you believe and what you know to be TRUE justice.
Let the friction stabilize us and let the resistance strengthen us to have the hard conversations and maintain compassion for those we do not understand. Allow the resistance to strengthen us to stay the course and to begin.
