Ireland has committed more than €670 million in bilateral support to Ukraine since the war began in February 2022...

That includes more than €254 million in humanitarian and stabilization support, over €200 million in military assistance, including non-lethal equipment, as well as a further €125 million package announced for 2026...

Last week, it was announced that Ireland is to provide €10 million towards the modernization of military training facilities in Ukraine — some view that as a significant development in Ireland’s support for the Ukrainian military....

Tipperary has produced some remarkable characters over the centuries — people who have shaped not just the county, but the country and, in some cases, left their mark far beyond Ireland.

So, in a new series, we’re going back through the pages of Tipperary history with historian John G. O’Dwyer to meet some of those extraordinary figures — their achievements, their personalities, their politics, and the times in which they lived.

And who better to start with than a man who quite literally put Ireland on wheels?

Earlier this week, we brought you the latest on the cancellation of a meeting in Dundrum about the proposed IPAS centre.

Residents and politicians had been told they would not be able to attend, raising questions about how communities are being consulted and whether local representatives are being properly kept informed about decisions that directly affect them.

It also brought back memories of an incident last year for Cllr Séamie Morris, who joins me now.
