On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nich Fairbanks(@prudentia0) for another edition of Fairbanks Friday. The two discuss the Panthers' 3-2 win over the Blues as Matthew Tkachuk scored with 11.8 seconds lefts after the Panthers didn't allow a shot for over 15 minutes in the third period. The Panthers had the energy after Sam Bennett and Jake Neighbours dropped the gloves right off the opening draw after Bennett's shot to the head back in December. The Cats' second line set the tone in the first period with getting a goal off the forecheck, with Mackie Samoskevich scoring after missing the last three games with an illness. He later exited the game after his first shift in the second period, and did not return. The Panthers had an early stretch in the game where they had 10 consecutive shots after giving up the first goal. St. Louis slowed the Panthers down in the second period and the first 10 minutes of the third where the Cats had a hard time gaining the zone, but things started to turn around after, and the Panthers had a multitude of chances off the rush, eventually resulting in their last second goal. Tkachuk now has six goals in his last five games, and 13 points (7,6) in his last seven games. The Panthers even out the road trip right before returning home to play the Ottawa Senators. The guys give their three stars of the game, discuss the breaking news from Thursday afternoon on the opening of the Synthetic Ice Rink in Broward County backed by the Anthony Duclair foundation, and give their Super Bowl picks for Sunday.
