On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down the Panthers 3-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights, where the Panthers were able to pounce in each frame and build a multi-goal lead heading into period number three, although Vegas controlled the game in the final 20 and got it to a one goal game, the Cats were right back at a two-goal lead scoring on the power play. Monday night was all about the defense, not only shutting it down late in the game, but getting point offensively as there a defenseman who got a point in each of the three goals. Donovan Sebrango got his first two career points, and got the primary assist on the first goal by Jesper Boqvist. Florida had eyes on the Golden Knights top players all night they had high quality looks, but the timely saves from Sergei Bobrovsky on Ivan Barbashev helped create a big swing when Brad Marchand scored to make it 2-0 in the second period. Vegas had over a minute of 5-on-3, and the Panthers found a way to keep it at a one goal lead at the time as Gustav Forsling was on the ice the entirety of the Vegas man advantage and the PK is now truly starting to click as they have not given up a PPG in their last three games. Although the Panthers only had one shot on goal to Vegas' 12 in the third, Florida only gave up two in the final five minutes, allowing them to get the two regulation points and wrap up the trip at 2-2-0. We give our three stars of the game, when we knew the game was won, and discuss how this upcoming homestand could be one to build off of this win as it has a favorable look. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nich Fairbanks(@Prudentia0) for another edition of Fairbanks Friday as the two broke down the Panthers 5-2 road win against the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings controlled play, but the Panthers capitalized on their limited chances in the period and were fortunate to go into the second tied at 2, due to the team giving up a good amount of breakaway opportunities. The Panthers cleaned it up defensively and were able to take the lead after a clean breakout with LA having multiple players down low in the Panthers end, birthday boy Sam Reinhart scored what would end up being the game-winning goal to give the Panthers the lead in the second. The Kings did make a push in the third, but an offensive zone penalty quickly changed that, and although Florida didn't score on their PP, Sergei Bobrovsky came up big to prevent them from tying the game, and they were able to put the game away with a big short-handed goal by Anton Lundell after forcing a turnover at the blue line. Brad Marchand popped two goals as he is currently on a three game goal streak. The Cats ability to win races to the puck and get in on their forecheck allowed them to make life difficult on Anton Forsberg as they got two goals off rebounds, where they only had three going into Thursday's game. The guys discuss their three stars of the game, when they knew the game was won, and discuss their thoughts on the Canadian and Finland Olympic jerseys, Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2025, and preview Saturday night's game in San Jose. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans(@JakeW_8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday, as the two broke down the Panthers 7-3 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. The two teams traded breakaway goals, but it's not the type of game that the Panthers should be comfortable playing in as they didn't give themselves an opportunity to set the pace. Although the Panthers took a 3-2 lead in the second period, a third goal of the game for the hat trick for Cutter Gauthier after some frustration from Anton Lundell after a hit went uncalled opened everything up for the Ducks. The frustations for Lundell continued as he went after Olen Zellweger in the third period. Although it was a one-goal game in the third period, the Panthers were gifted two power play opportunities, including a 5-minute major when Leo Carlsson's shoulder hit Evan Rodrigues in the head while Anaheim was on the PP. However, the Panthers shot themselves in the foot with an offensive zone penalty, which they had four of them on the night in the OZ. The Ducks then exploded for three third period goals after that and the game became out of reach from there. The guys discuss their three duds of the game, when they knew the game was lost, and discuss their worry meter with the Panthers playing poorly on the road as they have a 1-5-0 road record so far this season. On today's episode of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss the Panthers 4-3 SO win over the Dallas Stars, as Brad Marchand made his return to the lineup after missing Tuesday's game due to the death of the daughter of his longtime trainer, JP MacCallum, Selah. With a heavy heart, Marchand got the Cats on the board first and they were once again working as a five-man unit as they were able to roll their lines on Saturday night. Marchand also gave the Cats the win in the shootout as he came in with a burst of speed. The Stars scored twice as the Cats went to the box for a high-stick double minor, but even then they didn't panic as they controlled play. Defenseman Donovan Sebrango made his Cats debut, playing on a pair with Jeff Petry and both performed exceptionally well in Sebrango's debut, and their ability to not give away open ice easily in OT with Dallas getting multiple line changes and the Panthers inability to change was a big moment in the game where they were able to get it to the shootout, where the Cats came out victorious. Great things came in 17's, as the Panthers gave up no more than those amount of shots against in regulation throughout the home stand, and they now sit at first in the NHL at shots against per game, 1.4 shots better than the next best team, which goes to show the Panthers winning formula is present even without key pieces. The Panthers now head on their second road trip of the season, where certain places they've been successful and other places, not so much. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) was joined by Jacob Winans(@JakeW_8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday, as they broke down the Panthers 3-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks in a shootout. The Cats controlled the pace of play, where they got behind the Ducks defense, but stops by Lukas Dostal kept the game scoreless. Although the Panthers had three power play opportunities in the second period, after they gave up a goal short handed, the momentum fully flipped to the Ducks as the Cats committed two more penalties to eventually got down 5-on-3, which Anaheim was able to capitalize. Florida went fro controlling the game to chasing in the blink of an eye, and it took the Panthers a bit to get their feet going as they got one SOG the rest of the second period. The third period was low event, but the Cats cutting the score to one midway through thanks to Anton Lundell had them within striking distance. A great coaching decision to put the extra attacker on after Anaheim iced the puck allowed the Panthers to tie it at two after winning the draw and shot from the blue line was redirected by Sam Reinhart to tie the game at two gave the Panthers at least a point. Florida after all that even had a power play toward the end of OT after having the Ducks pinned in their end, but failure to convert meant this game had to be decided in a shootout, and Dostal shut the door only allowing one goal while Daniil Tarasov allowed two. The two discuss their three duds of the game, when they knew the game was lost, and if only getting one point is encouraging knowing they played from behind, or discouraging knowing that they could not get an early lead?
