We cannot wait for these series to be over.  We are now on the fourth entry of our two horror franchises and they each get worse and worse.  The first film we talk about may be one of the worst films we have ever discussed on the podcast.  Some movies are so bad that they are good.  This is not one of them.  The second is the worst one of the series so far, but they at least try to tie it in with everything that came before.

This episode of our category series we wanted to look at documentary films.  We decided to narrow the pool of films and stuck strictly to true crime.  There are a lot of different types of true crimes, but we all ended choosing films that looked at high profile murders.  The first looks at one of the most infamous murderers in American history.  The next is about a journalist who was killed overseas, and the last involves children and an internet fad.

After a short hiatus, we are back with our horror entry.  This episode we look at two relatively new horror movies that have a supernatural theme.  Both films more or less take place in a single location.  The first film is one f the better PG-13 horror flicks we've seen in awhile while the second has some legitimate jump scares as well as a very eerie feel to it.

May the 4th be with you!  Seeing as it is the unofficial Star Wars holiday, no better way to celebrate than start going through the series on the podcast.  We will be doing each of the movies with one of our regular guests.  We didn't discuss the movie all that much.  The discussion was more about the impact the movie had on us as well as our experiences in viewing it.

We are finally beginning our march backwards in our year in review episodes.  1999 turned out to be a pretty strong year.  So strong in fact that there wasn't nearly as much crossover in our choices as I expected.  Due to some computer issues we got started a bit later than intended, which means we were a little more sauced than we probably should have been.  The extended wait period explains the dysfunction at the end of this episode.

Due to everything that has happened, the award ceremony is happening later than usual, but is happening all the same.  Continuing with tradition, we have decided to do an episode where we choose who we believe will be the winners.  In the past it has just been three of us, but this year we got the predictions of the two other people who regularly podcast with us.

This week we are returning to the two horror franchises we started a bit ago.  We only took a look at a single movie from each, and that is the third entry in each series.  While one has some strong continuity to the films that came before it, the other has absolutely nothing to do with the prior movies.  I can only imagine the levels of ridiculousness we will see going forward.

When looking at movies with animals as a main focus they seem to fall into two different categories: sad movies about pets or animal attack movies.  We have talked about some animal attack flicks in previous episodes, but it was merely a coincidence that the three of us all picked films that focused on pets.

This episode of our horror edition we are taking a break from the two franchises we started to do a couple of one offs.  These two movies could not be more different.  One is a goofy slapstick film starring an acting icon while the other is a much more nuanced and subtle movie that will probably require a second viewing.  We all seemed to have different feelings about the both of them.

Recently we have been trying to get some new release movies done, and while this one dropped on Disney+ premium a little while ago, we just got around to watching it.  While it wasn't world changing, it was certainly entertaining and had some of the best animation we have seen.  We also bring in another person who gave us a slightly different perspective as he is a father.
