The three of us that do this category driven podcast are self described movie lovers.  We decided in this episode is to choose a single movie that sparked our love for movies.  Each movie is different, but coincidentally each movie ended up being the start of a franchise.

Another movie dropped on HBO Max recently, so naturally we wanted to talk about it.  As expected, the movie is all spectacle with little to no regard for the human element, and that is perfectly ok.  People come to a movie like this not for the intimate human stories, but for the destruction that is promised from the premise alone.

We decided to do something a little different with our horror podcast.  We recently purchased two separate horror franchises that both happen to be eight movies long, and we chose to go through the franchises together.  This episode we take a look at the first two movies of both.  These movies are vastly different from one another; one is played out more earnestly while the other is just downright goofy.

This weeks category episode takes a look at movies that come from Japan.  The Japanese has a long cinematic history, but they are probably mostly known for their horror films, which American cinema has remade and ruined several good and unique stories.  Surprisingly, we only discuss two movies this week as two of us randomly selected the same film.

The wait is finally over.  The fans have been calling for this movie for years, and they finally delivered.  We end up discussing the full four hour director's cut as a whole, but we also spend a good amount of time comparing it to the theatrical release as well.  Spoiler, the director's cut is far superior.  We had also just recently did an episode on the theatrical version.

This episode we take a look at an actress that many appear to believe is underrated.  She has been nominated on three separate occasions and has done a variety of different films.  The three of us chose different films, and each film is vastly different from the others and they do a good job showing off her range as an actress.

This entry into the horror podcasts has us look at two movies that have a somewhat similar theme: Air BnB's.  The first movie is about renting a house, while the second is about renting your own house.  Neither movie is particularly great, with one being ranked much lower by two of the three who viewed it.

In anticipation of a director's cut being released, we decided to discuss the theatrical release of said movie.  There was no plan to release this cut initially, but the fans came out in droves and gave the studio no choice.  This version of the film is pretty bad, and once we watch the new cut of the film, we will be sure to discuss that at length as well.

We have finally made it to the finish line!  This was a very odd year for obvious reasons.  Many of the movies that would have potentially made our lists were pushed back due to the pandemic, so the options were a bit limited.  Since the year was pretty chaotic, it only makes sense that the podcast would be a bit of a mess as well.  This one kind of got away from us at times.

This episode we take a look at the horror comedy sub genre.  Surprisingly, none of us picked the obvious heavy hitters.  Two of the three movies discussed came out this past year, and the third film is one very few people have seen or even heard of.
