Saul’s conversion to Christ provides a pivotal transition point in Acts chapter nine. Who was Jesus to this man who would become a beloved apostle? A study of Acts 9:1-22 reveals that, to Saul, Jesus was the Son of the living God.
When the Ethiopian heard Philip’s preaching about Jesus, he learned that Jesus is better than he could have ever dreamed! Walk through Acts 8:26-40 with Dan and Robert on this episode of Today With Jesus.
The book of Acts shifts in several ways as we come to chapter eight. There is a shift away from Jerusalem, a shift away from the apostles as the primary teachers, and even a shift in how Jesus is preached. Philip preaches to the Samaritans about the kingdom of God and thus, implicitly, presents Jesus as the King over his kingdom. But what kind of king is Jesus? Studying the first half of Acts 8, Dan and Robert discuss how Jesus is the kind of king who treats everyone the same.
Watch Jesus carefully as you study the end of Acts 7. In the context, Stephen, while he is being martyred, sees Jesus at the right hand of God. How is Jesus described and what can we learn from it? In short, we learn that the Jesus Stephen knew is the Messiah who cares for you!
Stephen called Jesus “the Righteous One” (Acts 7:52). As we make application from Stephen’s magnificent sermon, we learn that Jesus was the man who always did what was right.
Acts 6:14: “for we have heard [Stephen] say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and will change the customs that Moses delivered to us” (emphasis added). The first half of Acts 6 shows us the secret to respect each other, the secret to unity, and the secret to having a good reputation. In the last half of the chapter we find the core message of Stephen: “Jesus just makes things better!”

As Peter and John answer to the Sanhedrin for preaching about Jesus in temple, we find that these two apostles had been impressed by Jesus’ holiness and his humility. Consequently, the Jewish council took note that these uneducated Galileans had been with Jesus! The point? Jesus will change your life! Find out more as Dan and Robert discuss Acts chapter four and “The Jesus They Knew.”
Acts chapter 3 emphasizes Jesus as a servant — both the servant of God and the servant of people. It was Jesus himself who said that “the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mat. 20:28). Consequently, the book of Hebrews calls Jesus our “minister.” Wow! What a thought! Dive deeper into these concepts as Dan and Robert walk through the encounter Peter and John had with a lame man at the Beautiful Gate.
Empowered by the Holy Spirit, Peter boldly proclaimed Jesus as both Lord and Christ in his sermon at Pentecost. The implications of this truth are life-changing!
