Today we’re looking at the full first season of History of the World, Part II, the sequel to Mel Brooks’ cult classic 1981 comedy History of the World, Part 1. The eight episode Hulu series premiered March 6th, and collectively features over 100 comedians, most of which have turned up in other shows we’ve reviewed, BUT the wildest thing about this project is that it is narrated by 96-year-old Brooks himself. When you die in school, you stay in school. That's the basic premise of the Paramount+ new streaming show, School Spirits. The show stars Cobra Kai alumnus Peyton List as Maddie Nears, a student who dies in the boiler room of her high school and is left with the mystery of discovering the cause of her own death. Easy comparisons would be shows like Veronica Mars, Ghosts, and Dead Like Me. On this podcast, we review the first three episodes, play some games and give our ratings. Enjoy!

Rain Dogs is a British series airing on HBO about a woman and her daughter struggling to survive on no income, no prospects, and no place to stay. Despite the massively depressing circumstances, the show works as a situational comedy because it’s characters are impervious to shame, and absurd enough not to get bogged down in their problems. Daisy Jones & The Six is a miniseries based off the 2019 best seller of the same name, written by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The show is loosely based on Fleetwood Mac, following the rise and fall of a fictional rock group in the 1970s. The three segments we’re looking at are titled: “Track 1: Come and Get it, Track 2: I’ll take you there, and Track 3: Someone Saved My Life tonight.” Tune in and Enjoy!

True Lies is a new spy-comedy-drama on CBS based on the 1994 film about a secret agent leading a double life, which eventually bleeds into itself when his marriage starts to get rocky. The 42 minute pilot, which dropped March 1st, stars Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga as Harry and Helen Tasker. The Consultant is a thriller, black comedy starring Christoph Waltz on Amazon Prime. The series was created and written by the British screenwriter Tony Basgallop, based on the 2015 novel by Bentley Little, and takes place at the workplace of a mobile gaming company. Carnival Row is a neo-noir fantasy series that takes place in a Victorian-inspired city called The Burgue. It stars Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne as well as a diverse cast who portray both humans and mythical creatures. The show was developed by René Echevarria and Travis Beacham for Amazon Prime. It took over three years to complete the second season, which dropped its first two episodes February 17th. They are titled: "Fight or Flight" and "New Dawn," and are the basis of our discussion. This new sitcom on FOX stars Joel McHale as a cynical, disillusioned, ex-cop turned Animal Control Senior Officer, who gets stuck with a new rookie partner, as they follow up calls to deal with wild animals. The first episode is 22 minutes long, came out Thursday, and is titled "Weasels and Ostriches."  The series relies on several well-known, work place comedy tropes, which we discuss along with the plot and our rating.
