Not only do we have the ridiculously dope and incredible, Jansport J, but we've also got emcee/manager-extraordinaire, Slim Jeff.

If you don't know Jansport J you're falling off. He's one of the best and most interesting producers out. Whether he's creating solo instrumental albums or collaborating with emcees, his sound immediately stands out in the seemingly endless sea of sample based producers.

As a huge fan of his work, it was dope to sit down and talk to J and slim about their experiences visiting Japan for the first time, navigating the music industry as a sample based artist, lo-fi and soul music, the Tokyo beat community, and much more.

The second half of the podcast drops on Tuesday. We go much more in depth about their music, their creative process, and taste in music. So tune in for that too.

Yo part two of our Ohga episode!

This side we talk about music. Specifically Ohga''s music and how he got started. Him winning a stack of money as high as Mt Fuji, working with other Japanese artists such as Kojoe. We share some music, discuss Hip-hop hand orientation, if Del the Funky Homosapien was a top 5 west coast emcee in the 90s, Mega shares some old Micranots shit, we discuss what we were listening to in that era and Busta's buff ass voice.

We share a few tracks as well. A few from Ohga's back catalog, a couple from Flat Stanley's new project, "If Not Now, When?" and also a track from the new Gangstarr album.

Japanese emcee, Ohga, has had a long and amazing career. He first found hip-hop culture while growing up in New York but right around adulthood he would return back to his parents home country of Japan. In both places hes felt somewhat outside of each culture but it also provided him with a unique outlook on both.

We talk a lot about his personal life experiences in both the states and here, writing raps in Japanese and English, how the languages differ grammatically and how poetic devices in English differ from Japanese. We talk about his early love of Biggie and a bunch of other stuff.

The big homie, Shux Wun of Music & Strength, also joins in as guest co-host. He and Ohga have been friends and working together for several years. Check this episode out and make sure you tune in to part 2. Drops on Tuesday. On that we listen to some of Ohgas music and much more.

We're still working on episode 100 but in the meantime here's an interview from last March. We caught up with Stlndrms, MicxSic and James Lewis of the ATL-based Controllerise Collective.

After their performance at En-Sof Tokyo we took a couple minutes to conversate before the last train. Everyone was rushing to get out so the recording was only about 10 minutes.

Initially we planned on doing a whole episode based on the interview but we got hella busy with other in-studio guests.

Still, these cats were really dope and they're putting out some incredible music. They're also doing some really dope things out in Atlanta. Tune in.

Part two of our conversation with Kojoe. We get into his taste some more, discussing Nas and 2pac. He talks about coming back to Japan after well over a decade in the states. We also go back and discuss Kojoe's collaboration with Olive Oil, HH, and he first album he made when he returned to Japan, 51st State.

Kojoe shares some music of his new beat tape projects. And tells us about his new beat tape campaign that he'll be doing for the next 10 months. So far he's released Joe's Chicken N Waffles and Joe's Housing Project. The next project in January will be Joe's Strip.

All the projects will culminate in a pop-up shop featuring all the art and albums. Well keep you posted.
