Got some returning fam for this week's ep!

Our guy Alex "C-Dogg" Camp was leaving Japan in a final kind of way so we had to have him back on before he dipped out! You can catch his first appearance on the pod waaaaay back on MLS026 in early 2018. Since then, he's help grown the comedy scene here, and had a few other changes in his life. We get into all of that and the other nitty-gritty with our first co-host, Afrodyty!

Stay tuned for the 2nd half of this convo that will drop on Tuesday!

This is how we chill from episode 93 til...

Dos Monos are Botsu, Zo Zhit, and Taitan Man. Theyre a Tokyo based hip-hop trio making some of the most interesting music today. Often described as experimental, avant garde, and deconstructionist, their debut album, Dos City, is one of 2019s best projects. It dropped earlier this year on Deathbomb Arc, alongside releases from Death Grips, Clipping, and Jpeg Mafia. @Dos-Monos are gaining a huge foreign following, which is typically very difficult for Japanese rap artists. What's even more wild is that Dos City is the first music they ever made. The first track they made together is on the project.

The legendary Meiso, joins us as cohost and we find to find out their origin story, where the inspiration comes from, their musical tastes, their approach to making music, translating the lyrics into English, and a bunch of other suchness. They also share a new unreleased track that should be dropping sometime later this year.

Shout out to Dos Monos! Shout out to Meiso!

Check out part two that drops next Tuesday with all the other music shares, including a new joint from Meiso and Bugseed.

Yo!! On a real time travel tip, this episode with guest, Dot Decor, was maybe recorded 3 Terminator/Gundam generations ago, but is being released now due to popular demand for the people.

We get into hella Japanese culture, expat, Philippinx culture talk and Dot Decor gives a lot of insight into his art, his process, and his influences. Check it out and our guy's craft!!

This is a super Cali ep and we also geek out more than usual so hope ya'll enjoy the divergence from the deep, obscure hip-hop talk!!

We're starting off Ogre October with a change up. From now on, we will be release episodes in two parts. The first part drops on Friday as usual and the second half will drop on Tuesday.

So prepare yourself for that!

This week, we've got Emjae. He is emcee/ producer/artist hailing from New Orleans by way of several other places.

We've rocked with Emjae at shows before and seen him perform a few times here in Tokyo, so we we're glad to have him join us to talk about his art. We hear about him getting started, working with some of the greatest artists in hip-hop, his early EDM roots and living out here in Tokyo.

Check out part two for Emjae's new song "Ol Dirty" and the rest of our music shares.

Yo! Another round of hip-hopTokyodopeness! This time we've got two heavyweights of the beatmaking scene, Lidly and Yagi. They are prolific and two of the most well-known producers of their generation.

We get into their beginnings and influences and all that. They also share their opinions on Japanese hip-hop outside of beatmaking and what they think could be done to improve the scene in Tokyo. MLS auxiliary members @DDahlinger and Keen were also in-studio to provide physical essence.

These guys are hella talented and we're hella happy to have had them on the pod. Also, it was Lidly's first time eating Skittles so the candy mouth noises you hear are something you should embrace and appreciate the opportunity that you were able to witness the moment of pure bliss and joy. @Lidly and @Yagi6919 dropped a lot of beats during the Weather Report section also so you def peep that as you will!

Mixed by Late,

Not episode 84! This episode was recorded a few weeks back and due to some wild scheduling we finally got it up

We're joined by the homie, DJ Double El.

He's a good homie and friend of the show, so we ran this one a bit different. Less of an interview with Double El and more of some homies talking about anything that came up. Thoughts on DJs and tokyos dj scene, Busta's the Coming and is it classic, battle rap, and more.

Spent a good portion of the time discussing our thoughts on DJing in Tokyo and the approach people take to selection.

Expect to hear Double El more with us in the future.

Weather report:

Daichi Yamamoto - Toilet (Flat Stanley remix)

G. Dep - Special Delivery

Drake - Care Package
