We had a lot of fun and got pretty drunk in the Mega Reactor Buddhas Spine studio. Louda tells us all about her upbringing in Chicago, moving to San Francisco, her musical inspirations, organic booty, and her thoughts on coming to Tokyo for the first time.

Tanakas! Break out the gold cutlery and your best hat, this episode weve got, YET again, another one of Tokyos dope culture creatives. We sat down with Tokyos #1 hat maker, Thom O'brien!

Hailing from Australia, Thom is the owner and creator of Bona Cappelo, a high end hat company that specializes in fine custom head gear. Thoms also made hats for some of hiphop cultures more prolific artists such as Erykah Badu and Thundercat. Hes Erykah Badu's official hat designer and has a long standing relationship with her creating some of her most eccentric and incredible hats. Not only that but Thom tells us about the art of custom hat making, the tools of the trade, DJing in Tokyo, CheeseWAVE, inside story about some of his interactions with Kanye West's eating habits and Much more.

We learned a lot about his creative process and how he became a giant in the hat making industry.

This episode of the podcast is featuring one of the most prestigious figures in Tokyo hip-hop culture. Shes been involved in far too many projects to mention and has worked along side some of the most notable people in Tokyo. This episode we have the illustrious DAISHA HUNTER.

Daisha Hunter is a renaissance woman of media, entertainment, and Hip Hop scenes in Tokyo. She lived in Japan from 2006-2015 and "DaiWu" returned to celebrate her 36th Chamber Year and love of the WuTang Clan with her Japan Family.

She was the first Black female DJ in Tokyo starting from a hobby and love of Baltimore Club Music and D.C. Go-Go. She then turned her access of Japanese clubs into an opportunity for artists, DJs, and brands to perform and produce. After launching her company ENTokyo, Daisha developed and hosted some of the earliest music performance events bringing together Japanese and expats whose networks still exist today.

From marketing campaigns, brand activations, event production, Japanese Hip Hop touring DJ, creating the foodie hashtag #FatnessFirst, and being the self proclaimed Black Ambassador of Tokyo - her efforts to unite the foreigner, Japanese, and military communities in entertainment continue to succeed her time in Japan.

Yo episode #29 is live!

Secondly, we got one of he best break beat DJs in the world. Yes, the WORLD. That's right we have San Diego's very own, DJ MANE ONE! If youve been to a bboy event in SD, youve undoubtedly heard DJ Mane One. He one of SoCals preeminent break djs and has been cutting vinyl longer most of people have been listening to hiphop. We were super hyped to have him on the show. & We had so much to talk about with Mane and Cake but the episode was running way too long and we didnt get to really delve into Mane One's history in the scene. Mostly because Mega took up all the damn time talking about himself... AGAIN lol. So hopefully we can catch him again the next time hes out here. That said, we jump around a bunch of topics and get some really interesting insight from both of these guys. Shout out to DJ Mane One, Chocolate Cake, and Storm.

Yo This week were pleased to bring you a conversation with one of Japans most salient figures in music culture. Patrick St Michel is a writer, blogger and the creator of MakeBelieveMelodies dot com. Hes written for a large number of publications & websites such as The Japan Times, Pitchfork, Stereo Gum, Metropolis magazine, and Vice. Patrick has been writing about indie and mainstream Japanese music culture for almost a decade and his knowledge is VAST. Most recently he contributed to Bloomsbury's 33 1/3rd series about the sensational electro-pop band, Perfume, and their highly acclaimed album "Game."

Patrick sat down and gave us some super interesting insight into the world of the Japanese music scene. We talk about everything from Pikotaro and vocaloid mumble rap to Idol group gang wars and Stezes dislike of SMAP. In fact, Patrick was so insightful that we had to make him our official J-pop field correspondent.

More from the incredible guest list!!! Some of you might remember the live stream we rocked with I AM JESSE back in November for his "Techno Was Here" event. That party was crazy and weve been planning to get I AM JESSE on the podcast every since! We finally did and instead of a regular episode, Jesse had the brilliant idea to throw a little house party and do a live stream of the recording. BET!

The party was incredible. Hellaaaaa people came out. Jayda B of Bae Tokyo, Dj Tsu, the legendary Brooklyn Terry, phenomenal MCTarantula, Wise of the Teriyaki Boyz, DJ Ken-ske, Phil So Good, Akira from Sunday Replay and bunch of wonderful folks.

After a few weeks, and a bunch of audio/ video issues, we stacked the interviews together for your listening pleasure. Unfortunately we were barely able to salvage the intro of the recording and had to work some magic to get it up. So the first 5 minutes of the interview sound like it was recorded a cell phone. Be patience though, the rest of the recording sounds great. It actual sounds awesome considering it was in a room with almost 40 drunk people talking simultaneously.

I AM JESSE is one of the best DJs in tokyo and has organized and been involved in some of the largest events with some of the most prestigious figures. We barely scratch the surface with our guy, but as we said, I AM JESSE will be back on the podcast soon.
