Did you know you can choose to rejoice?
Sounds strange, doesn't it? 
But "rejoice always" is a command of Scripture, and like all commands, we can choose to do it whether we feel like it or not. Don't miss this point; it really is important. Our feelings are real, but we are not to be governed by them, nor are we at their mercy. Rather, we can acknowledge our feelings, evaluate them in light of Scriptural commands, and then choose a path of action .

While preaching today, some skeptics raised deep philosophical questions about how God can know everything (including the future), yet humans still have free will. Of course, it's not possible to provide a convincing argument about the nature of God to someone who rejects the very idea of God. But I offered them this insight on how to deal with their doubts.

"My wife belongs to me." 
You wouldn't believe how many girls on campus go ballistic at such a statement. They protest that no woman should ever be owned by a man; women aren't property, they're people! Some go on to argue that marriage is part of a patriarchal system designed to oppress women. But does a wife belong to her husband? Does a husband belong to his wife?

"What are you trying to accomplish out here?"
It's not an uncommon question for me to be asked while preaching on campus. Christian kids who have only seen evangelism take place within the friendly confines of a church event are often taken aback when they see people react angrily to the word being preached in the public square. 
But it does raise a good question that I would like to ask you: If you had the opportunity to speak to a group of college students, what would you like them to take away from your message?
