Over the past few weeks, we have been looking at the greatness of God's love for us. Though we've barely scratched the surface of the incomprehensible riches of His love, let there be no doubt that He loves you and me.
But this leads to an obvious question:
What should be our response to the love of God?

Can you talk about the love of God too much?
I doubt anyone does, but plenty of people are guilty of only talking about God's love to the exclusion of other aspects of God's character. And that can lead to misunderstandings about God and our relation to HIm.

Is there really nothing you and I can do to cause God to love us any more or any less? Perhaps. But the Bible also teaches that God's actions toward us are often determined by our actions -- our faith, our humility, and in the case of today's verse, our obedience. How does God's unconditional love not contradict Jesus' statement that the person who loves Him (a love demonstrated by obedience) will be loved by the Father?

Is it too cliche to say, "You might be the only Bible some people will ever read"?
It seems this is John's point when he says that even though no one has ever seen God that people can see God in and through us as we love one another. But there's something even greater!
