The Psalmist sang to God about the love of God, and as a result, he experienced the love of God more deeply. Music has the power to touch our emotions in the deepest parts of our soul. While it is paramount to have correct theology about God, it's also important that those theological truths come to reside in our innermost being.
Music helps make that happen.
