Tom the Preacher

I contend it's easier to start the race than to finish.
It's easier to get a first down than a touchdown.
It's easier to get to first base than score a run.
And it's easier to get someone to start the Christian life than to finish it.
But just like in these sports examples, if you want to be a winner in the Christian life, finishing is what counts.

There's a dangerous saying I've heard well-meaning believers utter while trying to evangelize unbelievers. "Some people think the Bible is just a book of rules," they say. "Actually, the Bible is all about a relationship with God."
This statement can be very appealing to the natural man living in rebellion against God, but is it true?

They are usually quite inspiring. Paul even referred to them in Scripture.
But this year's Olympics have been marred by controversy. Has that soured you? Are you watching?

Shame can be a powerful motivator or a poisonous manipulator.
Satan like to manipulate us into being ashamed of the wrong things. You'd best be on your guard lest he deceive you.

As evil rears its ugly head, we may wonder if we have lost the cultural war. What is the cultural war if not a battle between good and evil? Because Jesus has conquered the tomb and sits at the right hand of His Father, we have not and never will lose the battle against the evil one! We fight on, knowing that He who is in us is greater than they who are in the world!!!
