Tommy Cullum's Let's Get Freaky

Europe’s Roswell – The 1983 Llanilar UFO Crash

On a cold January night in 1983, the quiet Welsh village of Llanilar near Aberystwyth, became the scene of one of Britain’s most compelling and mysterious UFO incidents. A brilliant, high-speed craft streaking across the sky, buzzing the village before clipping treetops and exploding in a shower of exotic metal debris scattered across four fields. What followed has fueled decades of intrigue: whispers of a rapid military clean-up operation, confiscated evidence, and an official silence that many believe amounts to a full-scale cover-up.

Often dubbed “Europe’s Roswell,” the Llanilar incident has drawn comparisons to the famous 1947 New Mexico crash — yet with compelling physical evidence that some researchers argue has survived to this day.

In this gripping episode, we’re joined by renowned archaeologist, author, historian, and television presenter Mark Olly. Best known for hosting the hit series Lost Treasures and his appearances on Ancient Aliens and other major programs, Mark has spent years investigating this extraordinary Welsh case.

Mark takes us deep into the heart of the investigation: the eyewitness testimonies, the recovered fragments, the unexplained military presence, and the tantalizing clues that — when pieced together — point unmistakably to the crash of a craft of unknown origin in the Welsh valleys.

In an era of official disclosure and declassified UFO files, the Llanilar incident stands out as a landmark case with hard, physical evidence that refuses to be swept under the rug.

If you’ve ever wondered whether a genuine “otherworldly” event could have taken place on British soil — and been quietly buried by authorities — this is the episode you can’t miss.

If you explore abandoned buildings—as our guest today can attest—be aware that they are not always truly unoccupied, and the "occupier" may be all too human rather than supernatural. Our guest, Wade Lovin from Illinois, learned this lesson in sixth grade when he and his friends ventured into an old mill in their town. What Wade encountered that day profoundly altered his life. A young boy with no prior experience of the paranormal was suddenly thrust into a realm of high strangeness. The veil had lifted, igniting a lifelong fascination with the unknown that continues to yield new experiences. Wade also recounts a harrowing incident involving his brother, who endured torment from a demonic entity in his own home. Wade witnessed the phenomenon firsthand, confirming the terrifying reality his brother and family were facing.
