If you followed the story of our country's newest Medal of Honor Recipient you have likely seen or heard from or about Dave Hill.

Hll is the last surviving member of the team of Army Rangers that Larry Taylor saved during the combat action that would eventually earn him the Medal of Honor.

Dave Hill also started the effort to get Captain Taylor's Silver star upgraded. During six and a half year process he worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help put the nomination packets together, talked to lawmakers and the Pentagon as well did interviews with news outlets like this one to keep this story about Larry Taylor alive.

On his fifth day of his term as National Commander of the American Legion, Daniel Seehafer attended the Medal of Honor ceremony for Cpt. Larry Taylor from Signal Mountain, Tennessee.

On day nine, he sat down and talked to Tomorrow Town, Tennessee host Josh Roe at American Legion post 81 in Cleveland, TN.

Dan and Josh talked about the Medal of Honor ceremony for Cpt. Taylor, why it's so important for Seehafer to visit posts across the country, and the veterans suicide crisis.

On Tuesday, September 5th, Vietnam Veteran Larry Taylor will receive the Medal of Honor at a ceremony in Washington D.C.    

On a previous episode of this podcast we told the story of the combat action that happened on June 18th where Larry Taylor saved the lives of 4 soldiers in Vietnam.

55 years after that combat action Taylor will be awarded the highest honor a member of the military can receive for valor in combat.

This week on the show we talk to one of the people who is planning the future of several projects to improve public spaces in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Eric Myers.

He is the Executive Director of the Chattanooga Design Studio.

We talk about Urban Design which is the art of creating cities from deciding what building should look like and molding the spaces that surround all of those buildings.

Eric is one of the people making decisions about how parts of Chattanooga will look for the next several decades.

In the 1940s, Alpha Combs had a job at Clinton Engineering Works in what is now called Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

If you have seen the movie Oppenheimer or know the history then you know the work at CEW was critical to the Manhattan Project. We explore what happened in rural East Tennessee in the 1940s through the eyes of one woman who lived that history.

Today Alpha Combs is 100 years old.

Back in the 40s she was part of the effort to enrich uranium for the world's first nuclear bombs.

The process to enrich uranium in Oak Ridge required the uranium to be pumped through a maze of pipes.

Part of Alpha Combs's job was checking the pipes that held the uranium for leaks, but she and most others most others didn't know what they were working on.

They weren't allowed to talk about their jobs, not with co-workers, not with family, no one.

Dr. Mina Sartipi is working on a compelling project. Dr. Sartipi is the director of the Center for Urban Informatics and Progress at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. For several years Dr. Sartipi has been studying how we move through the world. This research is currently focused on a mile and a quarter test bed near UTC's campus as the world moves towards autonomous vehicles, smart cities, and other technology, but that test bed will soon expand.

The White House has announced that Signal Mountain, Tennessee's Larry Taylor will receive the Medal Of Honor. NewsChannel 9's Josh Roe first met Mr. Taylor in 2018 and he has been documenting Taylor's story ever since. It's an incredible story that every United States citizen should hear.

In late May, Chattanooga's One Westside Plan was announced that would spur more redevelopment for a part of Downtown Chattanooga called the Bend.

That is a huge piece of property on the West End of the city along the banks of the Tennessee River.

This One Westside project involves the City of Chattanooga, Hamilton County, the owner of the Bend, Urban Story Ventures, and more. 

Urban Story Ventures has called the Bend Chattanooga's next great urban neighborhood.

The One Westside project will include commercial space, a riverfront park, and thousands of new homes.

Among those new homes at least 10 percent of the housing will be set aside for affordable housing.
