Toon Along! Podcast

Today we take a little drive down memory lane to a safe and happy place called, Downtown. The MTV cartoon which has university and high school kids staying up late on a Friday night catching up on all the fucked up problems of the 90's youth. This show did not get much of a chance having only 1 season however the imprint the art style and tempo left to my childhood mind has stuck until this very day.

Welcome to the Toon Along! Join me as I watch, play and review Cartoons, Movies, Video Games and TV Shows from the 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s as well as today, all while adding my personal perspective and opinions on the subject, so hop on as we take a ride back to the past for some deep memory driven entertainment on Toon Along!

It's time to watch one of the lesser known shows from the creators of Rugrats, As Told By Ginger. This show for me has always felt like a distant relative to the Klasky Ksupo realm, it feels like a mellow version of Rocket Power, however even with that being said it still feel right at home in the Nickelodeon world along the ranks of Hey Arnold for it's mellow mood and ambience.

We made an order tonight for some Samurai Pizza Cats it's been a long while since I last watched this series but oh boy does it feel right to have ourselves a slice this evening. Bringing the world of anime with some dubbed cultural adjustments to North America this show does not fail by any means, from the original Japanese version to the Dubbed English one both are completely different shows and are both worth the watch.

Late night anime doesn't get get any nostalgia without a dash of Escalowne. One of the pioneers for the late night anime viewing experience, Escaflowne was always a show that gave me a sense of awe and bewilderment. From the catchy intro to the mecha suit it was one of my first glances at the world of Japanese animation. Although it might not sit atop the throne of best anime or most memorable it still plays a role in my memory of anime and late night cartoons.
