1. The demolition is done. Northridge Mall in Milwaukee is finally gone. City leaders gathered at the site today to celebrate the completion of the demolition. This is a milestone in the city's ongoing efforts to transform Granville Station. Now that the site is clear, future re-development can begin. There's no plan yet for what might be built on the land next. Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson says the city wants to listen and learn from the community and builders right now. They want to figure out what would be successful on the land and add vibrancy to the northwest side of the city. Northridge Mall closed back in 2002.
2. Computer chip manufacturer Nvidia crossed the five-trillion-dollar valuation mark today and it's not the only tech company seeing a sky-high market cap. Apple is the third company to cross the four-trillion-dollar mark, after Nvidia and Microsoft.
2:16-Wisconsin’s Midday News talks about how Hurricane Melissa is heading to the Bahamas today, after making landfall in Cuba this morning as a category-3 storm. It made historic landfall yesterday in Jamaica, as a category-5 hurricane. At least 25 people died in Haiti, after a river flooded by Melissa burst its banks. Three people were killed in Jamaica during storm preps and one person died in the Dominican Republic.
