On this episode of Allocation Disorder, Paul and Sam are joined by The Athletic's Felipe Cárdenas for a fascinating discussion about Felipe's recent story, titled "The battles for control through Atlanta United’s rapid ascent and sudden backslide". Why has Atlanta United fallen off over the last few seasons? Why didn't they hire Marcelo Bielsa when they had the chance? And what pushed them to hire a European manager as their next coach after Tata Martino? Felipe, Paul, and Sam talk about all of those things - and much more.
After the Atlanta United chat, our intrepid trio discuss the Columbus Crew's questionable rebrand. Sam has thoughts, everybody. Sam has thoughts.

Paul Tenorio is back on the show (in a non-Allocation Disorder fashion) to discuss the Columbus Crew rebrand and why the folks in charge assume changing a logo means more butts in seats. We take a look at the process that led to the rebrand, why Crew ownership thought it was necessary, and where we go from here. Plus, the team that did rebranding right, the clubs that have the most authentic approach to messaging, and the most exciting teams in the league so far this season!

It’s listener question time! Ryan, Taylor, and Joe combine to answer your lovely inquiries, ranging from under-the-radar Americans who we might see at the Gold Cup, to which active Premier League players are future hall-of-famers, to why fans on non-Big Six clubs should be glad that the Super League isn’t happening, to so much more. You can find the full list of questions down below:
1) With Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley not on Gregg Berhalter’s Nations League roster, are their national team careers over?
2) Which non-capped USMNT-eligible players could we see in the Gold Cup?
3) Why should fans of non-Big Six teams be happy that the fan outrage against the Super League has essentially maintained the status quo?
4) Who would win a fictional, retroactive “Hottest Soccer Player” bracket from the 2018 World Cup?
5) Which active Premier League players will be future hall-of-famers?
6) Why doesn’t City Football Group move players through their sister clubs in the same way that Red Bull does?
7) Is it better to find young players who are positionally flexible or who excel in one spot?

Ryan, Taylor and Graham are here to discuss the biggest games of the weekend! And Graham’s OnlyFans account!
-Man City vs Chelsea: The Champions League dress rehearsal didn’t go well for Man City, who saw the game turn when Sergio Aguero decided to do his Ademola Lookman penalty tribute.
-Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid: A vital game in the Liga title race ended in a stalemate, in which Leo Messi *almost* scored an all-time great goal.
-Borussia Dortmund vs. RB Leipzig: Dortmund helped Bayern Munich win the title this weekend by taking three points from Leipzig, who were uncharacteristically disorganized in the back.
-LA Galaxy vs. LAFC: Greg Vanney’s side got back to winning ways in El Trafico, where Chicharito once again was able to steal the headlines.

On this week’s episode of Allocation Disorder, Paul and Sam use this Saturday’s edition of El Tráfico a jumping-off point for a discussion about roster building cycles in MLS (which is something that LAFC is dealing with right now), club rebuilds (which is something that the Galaxy are dealing with right now), the challenges of selling players midseason, and more. Then it’s on to a conversation about the value of MLS experience and some under-the-radar MLS players that have impressed Paul and Sam so far this year.

Taylor is joined by Transfermarkt's Manuel Veth to discuss the managerial key party that is the Bundesliga coaching situation. We get into what Germany will look like this summer in Jogi Lowe's final outing (and where he might go from here), how Bayern got their man in Julian Nagelsmann but still have a lot to figure out if they want to make sure he doesn't walk away a la Hansi Flick, and the changes Jesse Marsch will bring to Leipzig's playing style (plus the players that might leave before he takes charge and the possible replacements that could come in). And we close by discussing the most impressive performances by Americans in the Bundesliga this season, and some transfer speculation as well (Sancho, Haaland, and several others included there).

Ryan, Graham, and Joe team up to talk Champions Leagues! First, it's some UEFA Champions League chat with discussion of Chelsea vs. Real Madrid and Manchester City vs. PSG. Just how good was Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea team against Madrid? Has Pep been reading a Diego Simeone biography? And what's the deal with an all-English UCL Final?
Then, it's on to the Concacaf Champions League, with analysis of the Philadelphia Union vs. Atlanta United and Toronto FC vs. Cruz Azul. From sideline spats, to Santiago Sosa's strike, to questions about how Chris Armas' Toronto team will play in the future, there's plenty to discuss!

Meg Linehan of The Athletic is back on the show to discuss this weekend's NWSL Challenge Cup Final, as well as her thoughts on some of the best offseason moves in the league. Plus, which teams are looking strong (or as strong as ever) and which teams still have some work to do! There's also Taylor attempting to get Meg to make Olympic roster predictions, with ends on a more useful topic of HOW Vlatko might be approaching assembling his roster. And, up front, Meg gets into the challenges of covering women's soccer in the US and the ways in which both the intensity and meaningfulness of that coverage could be improved.

Ryan, Taylor and Graham discuss the weekend’s biggest games—including the one that didn’t actually take place!
Manchester Utd vs. Liverpool: the biggest fixture in English soccer was postponed following protests from Red Devils fans aimed at their absentee owners. What exactly happened at Old Trafford, and what will follow?
La Liga title race: Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid all noticed wins this weekend, keeping the race for Spanish silverware incredibly tight as we head down the final strait!
Serie A title race: Congrats to Inter Milan on winning their first scudetto in 11 years! How will Antonio Conte’s side build on this success, and how competitive will Juventus be next term?
Seattle Sounders vs. LA Galaxy: Chicharito and his Galaxy pals were brought back down to earth with a thud in Seattle, where Brian Schmetzer’s side dominated from the outset.
