Since 1994 Project Vote has developed state-of-the-art voter registration and Get-Out-the-Vote programs, and has helped register more than 5.6 million Americans in low-income and minority communities. Project Vote has also achieved a nationwide presence through long-term relationships with service and advocacy partners, and takes a leadership role in nationwide election administration issues, working through research, legal services, and advocacy to ensure that our constituencies are not prevented from registering and voting.

Gwen Y. Gistarb is the author of “The Lesson Plan ~ A Workbook for Mothers and Teenage Daughters”, a parent of a daughter and son, a speaker, and has been a high school teacher for twenty-six years. She has written articles for the Gospel News Magazine. Gwen believes that having a daughter is the most precious gift a mother will be given in a lifetime. She is a leader in establishing and re-establishing the relationships between mothers and their teenage daughters.

Omar De La Cruz has a passion for public speaking; I am a dynamic speaker who shares my personal life experiences to convey a message about overcoming adversity and aligning ones strengths and goals to become successful.

Omar’s dream was to retire from a job with benefits by the age of 40. Overcoming my adversities life brought my way; I was able to make my dream reality by honorably serving our country for over 21 years in the United States Navy.

Today Omar is a small business owner in Katy, TX been married for over 27 years(another great story), a father of two daughters and one son.

Omar knows what it's like and what it takes to start from the bottom and work your way up.   I get personal satisfaction knowing my messages are able to inspire/motivate the ones that have lost hope in converting their dream into reality.

Nelson Trout started writing poetry at a very young age, which led to writing song lyrics for local bands and composers. I then learned the guitar and a little piano and started writing my own songs, words & music. I also started singing publicly, solo and with various bands. Thus far I have written over 300 songs and released 5 CD's of my own songs. That went on for about 35 years. I then had an accident, breaking my back and 3 vertebras in my neck. I was prescribed narcotic pain killers to which I became addicted. I entered myself into a re-hab facility in Florida, where I wrote a book about my experience. “Blood on the Ceiling " is that book. The book is published and the E-book, Kindle, etc. It is available on Amazon.com. The hard copy will be released very soon as well as an audio version. I now live in southern New Jersey working on my next book, a psycho thriller, titled: " Raven April ".

Lisa Alexander and her husband have two children. The youngest, just before his second birthday somehow managed to pull a 70lb TV on top of himself. Our oldest screamed and I ran in to find only our son's feet sticking out from the TV. I threw the TV and began to pray like you've never heard a mother pray before. He was rushed to the hospital and we were told the fluid that cushions the brain was leaking. There was nothing they could do. That was a Friday night. Somewhere between Saturday night and early Sunday morning the leaking stopped. He was brought in by ambulance on a Friday and walked out on his own by Sunday. We went through lots of physical therapy and 10 years later he's an amazing student and athlete. I believe in miracles. I live with one.

Linda Leon says her mother was very inspirational.  She made be believe that I could do anything that I wanted in life and that hard work pays off.

Linda Leon says one of the things that shaped her life was hardship and adversity have made me a better person, given me perspective and showed me the things that are really important in life.  What is important is peace of mind and a thriving family.

The quote Linda lives by is Get over it and get on with it.  Why - Life is too short to spend a lot of time considering the past, especially events that were difficult.  Power comes when you set yourself in forward motion, make the best of a bad situation and succeed.

Tourette’s syndrome, or TS, is a neurological disorder characterized by motor and vocal tics. Symptoms begin in childhood and cause those affected to make movements and noises they cannot control. While not life-threatening, TS is nonetheless often painful, disruptive and isolating. Many children with TS also have associated conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and/or learning disabilities. While it is believed to be genetic, the exact cause of the symptoms is still unknown.

The Tourette Syndrome Association of Texas, one of the largest chapters in the country, is a 501 ( c )3 non-profit organization. We raise funds to directly assist Texas families and children in crisis, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
