Jordan joins my attempt to piss off the cryptid community by endorsing them darn hoaxers! 

We blatantly declare the Patterson-Gimlin footage a hoax, using its mangled remains alongside other fraudulent cryptid shenanigans to demonstrate how Bigfoot actually IS real, but not the way you want it to be! 

Can hoaxes actually spark genuine phenomena? Can they manifest monsters in the form of egregores or tulpas? Or are these monstrous manifestations rather our instinctual projections which inspire us to form and maintain communities? 

We hop across America discussing some favorite imaginal cryptid fugitives: 

The elegantly coon-suited Selbyville Swamp Monster!

Folklorist Luke Greensmith joins to discuss folkloric figures of a completely different culture: the Yokai of Japan! 

We dissect the Western interpretations (and oftentimes bastardizations) of traditional Eastern folklores and why it is important to preserve foreign beliefs and stories within their own cultural and historical contexts. 

Yokai are a very diverse group of entities, which Luke and I have noticed draw many parallels and cultural synchronicities with fairy folklore, as well as other worldwide myths. Using Yokai as a centerpoint, we sit down to debate the issues of comparative studies, cultural imperialism and conservation of traditional lore.  

We also heavily criticize cryptozoology for vehemently reducing rich cultural diversity into shallow materialistic objectifications.....hey...they had it coming! 🤣

On Tracing Owls, we will be discussing cryptids, UFOs, paranormal phenomena, high strangeness, anomalies, obscurities, natural curiosities and general weirdness, as we attempt to catalogue the overlooked, spotlight the disregarded, and remind that the cosmic expanse is much greater than our understanding of it!

This is a quirky, introspective, and oftentimes satiric, audio-blog exploration of fortean philosophy, emphasizing the impact of Mother Earth, the Cosmic Trickster and the experiencer in shaping the phenomenon. From Betty's Obituary: Betty was internationally renowned due to abduction experiences she had  with otherworldly entities during her life. Her experiences are some of  the most researched and heavily documented, and were written about in a  NY Times best-selling book, magazines, and newspapers. In addition, Betty appeared on many TV and Radio shows, and lectured on the phenomena  all over the U.S.

Betty was a dedicated and loving wife and mother of seven children. Not only was Betty a positive influence in their lives, but also in the  lives of all who knew her. She was a very special light on this earth  and will be dearly missed.
