As part of the Center for Citizenship and Social Responsibility, at Medford High, Emily McDaid founded Common Ground.  She began it because she became aware there were whole groups of students not meeting and interacting with one another.  One of the groups was students with disabilities.  She felt that students should be segregated and all should know one another.  She also felt that students with disabilities were being left out of sports and student activities and she worked out ways they would be included thus changing student life for everyone.  She is on a mission to have Common Ground  included as a course even after she leaves Medford High  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5G3tB86F5k6JhvcHHMu3tg/videos

Diving off the Great Barrier Reef, Ian helped pull out a dead sea turtle.  Looking into its eyes he knew it was trying to tell him something.  When they opened it up they found a plastic bag, bottle caps, etc.  That turtle changed his life in an amazing way. Thurs Ocean Crusaders was born.

Feeling he was dying inside Leon left his safe stockbroker job in London and set off around the world to prove that people are kind.  Without any money and relying on people for fuel for his vehicle, food and a place to sleep, Leon found some very surprising and heart-warming things about people.  You will be surprised on what people helped and those that didn't.

Crystal Chigbu and Irede Foundation help children born with a disability in their limbs to lead normal lives.  Her view:  Nothing is impossible! It started when her daughter had a leg amputated and needed an artificial limb.  That young girl now dances, swims, cycles and the Irede Foundation is now helping children like her. This is a story of hope, inspiration and the unlimited power of humans.

Kelin Mark, principal of 7 & 8 grades decided that the young men in his high school needed exposure to a different way of thinking if they were going lead productive lives. He borrowed from a friends book, Young Men of Purpose and started a program teaching students how to interact with teachers, family, each other and what appropriate behavior was.  He also had them dress in shirt and tie and took them to various college campuses so they could see what they could have if they applied themselves.  He also taught them critical thinking, which he had found lacking.  
He is turning out successful, conscious, young men who apply critical thinking to make good choices.

This amazing man just passed this week.  He will be remembered for his dedication to helping address climate change in Congress, business and communities around the world. His also helped with monies in third world countries.  He was a concerned and committed citizen of the world

An former combat Marine, Bryan was a co-found of Veteran's Community Project.  All of the founders are combat Marines.  Their commitment is that no matter what a veteran needs they will find a way to connect them with a resource or help develop one.  They never turn any veteran away.  They have also built 75 tiny homes for homeless veterans and are moving into other cities to do the same kinds of service.  

Part of their mission is to integrate veterans into the community and the community into the veterans so there is inclusion and understanding.
