Transpower is promising to work better with the electricity sector this winter to avoid black outs and power cuts to customers. During times of high demand, usually cold mornings and evenings, a shortfall in electricity supply can mean people have to reduce consumption or face cuts. Earlier this month, Transpower was fined $150,000 for its role in 34,000 and homes losing power on one of the coldest nights of August 2021.
