Javier was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Kansas City in his early childhood. Having earned a GED at the Clearfield Job Corps Center, he returned to Kansas City to join the Marines. Javier's unit deployed to Iraq in November 2006. On that mission, his best friend was killed by a roadside bomb. Javier was inspired by this sacrifice to pursue his childhood dream of becoming an attorney so he would be able to help others. As a result of his own bad experience with the VA and the difficulties experienced by his fellow Veterans, he was extremely dissatisfied and frustrated. Consequently, he decided to gain expertise in advocating for Veterans and ensuring that they received the disability benefits they were entitled to.

"In the movie, A Few Good Men, there’s that famous one-liner from Jack Nicholson when he says, ‘You can’t handle the truth!’ It’s true, most people can’t handle the truth that they were handed a difficult path in life. But it’s important to find ways to push through, and find the help needed to cope."
