Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. And so what does faith do for us? It gives us insight into foresight like it’s hindsight. Today, Pastor Ford will explain that in other words, God’s going to let us know what our future is going to be, so that we can have faith in Him and our future.

Continuing our look at sins that should be dealt with by the church, Pastor Ford defines for us what a “busybody” is.  According to him, that’s a person who is “always up in somebody else’s video, trying to find out what flavor their Kool-Aid is.”  He says that person is in the category of seven things that God hates. What does God hate?  The person who sows discord among the brethren—or in other words, they cause division among the people of the church.

When we become involved in ministry at our local church, we need to remember Who it is that we’re working for.  It’s God Who has called us to the work work we're doing and ultimately, we’ll be accountable to Him. God has gifted each of us in special ways and has given us the things that He wants us to do.

Today on Treasured Truth, we’ll see how easy it was for Jephthah to assign the blame of his own mistake to his daughter and how that negatively affected a situation that was already terrible.  And Pastor Ford will help us understand how our actions and reactions to situations in our lives can have severe affects on our own relationships. 

As we continue to look at the story of Jephthah’s vow, we’ll discover how other choices he made in his life had adverse effects on his daughter.  And Pastor Ford will help us take a look at how we, as parents today, can begin to turn things around if we’ve made decisions that have negatively affected our children.

In the Old Testament book of Judges, chapter 11, we read about Jephthah’s foolish vow.  And today Pastor Ford will begin to explain how Jephthah came to make such a rash and drastic statement and then to what extent it affected his daughter and his own life and ministry.

As we continue to look at 2 Corinthians and understand what made the mindset of the Macedonian believers such an example for us, Pastor Ford will explain that the basis of their sacrificial spirit was a result of them understanding God’s ultimate sacrifice. God gave the best gift of heaven (Jesus) for the worst of earth (us)!

There are some people, no matter what you do to them, no matter what they go through, they will never deny Jesus and they’ll never backslide.. They can go without food, without a job, without lots of things, and they still have the joy of the Lord. They still tell people that Jesus Christ is the center of their joy.  And Pastor Ford points out how we can do just that and what having this kind of mindset actually requires.

How can we encourage fellow followers of Christ to serve in their local church congregations?  By helping them to understand that God led them to the place where they worship, not just to get fed by the preaching of the Word.  God led them there to work. And as Pastor Ford will remind us today, that’s because we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good work!

Pastor Ford says that in 2 Corinthians 8, Paul is saying, “The reason, the Macedonians have become your example is because your thinking about giving is wrong.  You don’t have the right motivation for giving.  They do.  And so, you need to follow their example and have the Macedonian Mindset.” Find out who the Macedonians were, what their mindset was and how it applies to our lives on today’s Treasured Truth.
