Treasured Truth

Pastor Ford will explain today that if we are praying for something that is not attached to the purpose of God, then we shouldn’t expect it to happen.  The questions we ought to ask when we want something from God are these—will this glorify the person of Jesus Christ?  Will this fulfill the purpose of Jesus Christ?

Pastor Ford will remind us today that when Christ is not valued in our lives above all, He is not valued at all.  A lot is out of place in our lives because Christ is not in first place.

We need to remember that because Jesus is invincible, we can be victorious through our trials.  We need to know that life is more than just what’s happening to us.  Life is about what’s happening for us. All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purposes.

Pastor Ford wants us to realize that if we start telling God, “This is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad, even in the midst of what we’re going through,” the Bible tells us that God is going to look at us and turn us from worriers into worshippers.

We take a break from our regular program line up to give Pastor Ford an opportunity to answer several listener questions.  The topics today include being filled with the Holy Spirit, determing God’s will for your life, and understanding more about the presence of the Lord.

As Christians we need to learn to trust God with our finances.  We may have the desire to get out of debt, but unless we put God first in everything related to our money, then Pastor Ford explains that we won’t be successful.   He says believers won’t get out of debt without putting God first.

As we consider our need for a money makeover, Pastor Ford reminds us that as Christians, our identity is confirmed by Christ’s deity, not by our possessions.  He prompts us to consider that we are somebody—not based on our cars, our cribs, our cash, or our clothes—but based on the fact that we are complete in Christ!

We live in an instant age.  We no longer know how to deal with delayed gratification.  Today Pastor Ford will continue to encourage us to avoid being enticed into debt by the ease of getting credit and to consider the consequences of having an eagerness to acquire things that we don’t really need.

As we begin a new study on finances, Pastor Ford will describe the pitfalls associated with spending money that we do not yet have when we make purchases using credit.  He explores why we are so easily enticed into debt and shares some biblical principles to help us avoid the credit trap.

Today, Pastor Ford points out that if we want peace, Jesus is our peace.  If we want righteousness, Jesus is our righteousness.  Whatever it is, He identifies with us.  So that when God sees us, He does not see our sin, He sees His Son.
