Treks and the City

Comedian/Actor Brian Huskey (Veep, People of Earth) joins Alice and Veronica for a trip through another trying ST:TNG S1 ep that sounds promising (Riker-centric! Q-themed!) but suffers from some familiar pitfalls. Which means the return of several of beloved Treks segments! Worf overreactions! A Geordi pain check-in! And numerous (almost too many to count) male writer problems!

When they finally run out of things to say about "Hide and Q," Brian, Alice, and Veronica provide a detailed analysis of a non-existent S2 episode called "The Data Query," featuring a vaccine, a mirror, and lots and lots of Datas.

Are the Ferengi f*ckable? Is Wesley into older women? What are the dos and donts of blow job etiquette? Prepare for a fabulously X-rated episode as comedian Nicole Byer joins Alice and Veronica to talk sex, food, fashion, and "The Battle" from Season 1 of Star Trek: TNG.

Plus whitewashing, more dumb moments from the TNG writers' room, and some bizarre Picard prop work (a pen? a suitcase?).

In honor of their TEN EPISODE MILESTONE (not a real milestone), Alice and Veronica hit pause on ST:TNG to take stock of the podcast and their friendship; to roll out some very special new features; and to respond to fan comments, questions, and photos on Twitter.

Prepare for a glimpse into the love lives and spiritual lives of your beloved hosts as they wrestle with some fundamental questions Why are we doing this? Are we the same person? What if this sucks? How could it suck when we love it so much and its a dream come true?

Podcast icon Paul F. Tompkins joins Alice & Veronica to discuss a very tan, very fit, very lots-of-extras-kissing episode from S1 of ST:TNG... It's "Justice"!!!

When the Enterprise comes in contact with "Steve Bannon's wet dream of a perfect planet," complete with jogging Aryans and arbitrary executions, several important questions arise, such as... Does Tasha Yar know how to make sexual innuendos? Who is the AC Slater of the Enterprise? (Hint: he doesn't have a beard YET.) How exactly do the Communicator Badges work? And why did Paul watch every episode of TNG except for the series finale?

Lifelong Trekker and super guest Jay Baruchel (Goon: Last of the Enforcers) joins Alice and Veronica for an unforgettable trip through a forgettable S1 Ep of ST:TNG, Lonely Among Us.

Jay talks about inheriting his Star Trek obsession from his mother, owning a Klingon-English dictionary, unopened boxes of TNG toys, you know the drill Trekkers. Canada comes up. Canadian screws. Getting screwed in Canada. Body men. Dock folk. Hearty chowder. Sexy hockey players. And yes, we now know that Riker hails from Alaska, not Canada. But isn't it fun to think of him as Canadian?

Groundbreaking comedian, baseball savant, and dedicated Trekker Rhea Butcher (Take My Wife) joins Alice and Veronica to discuss an early definitive episode of ST:TNG, giving rise to an early definitive episode of Treks and the City!!!

Between riffs on Wesley sweaters, the Traveler, Tasha Yar and the rape gangs, Rhea, Alice, and Veronica have a compelling discussion about gender, race, and agency, not just in the ST:TNG universe, but in the entertainment industry, on the baseball diamond, fricking everywhere.

“Anybody?!” Alice and Veronica talk Ferengi and gender dynamics with comedian extraordinaire Emily Heller, who, despite having geek energy, had never watched an episode of Star Trek: TNG until now!!!

This episode features plenty of Alice and Veronica's favorite TNG bits, including shutdowns of Wharf ("the George Zimmerman of space"), redemptions of Troi, and pain check-ins with Geordi La Forge.

Plus, how does Data work exactly? And what do gender roles have to do with the imminent approach of death?

“A racist piece of sh*t.” “A truly terrible episode.” Alice and Veronica welcome comedian and podcaster extraordinaire Jackie Kashian (Dork Forest, The Jackie and Laurie Show) on the pod to discuss an ST:TNG episode that has been called all these things and more.

They dig into the ep’s uncharacteristic cultural insensitivity and embrace of the “noble savage” trope, as well as its misguided attempt at feminist politics, while also acknowledging the role played by TNG’s actors in voicing their discontent with the episode and helping to weed out racist bullsh*t from future episodes.

Plus, Holodeck condescension, death by mitten, random body slams, dick for land negotiations, and more of Geordi's pain and Troi’s stupid lines. And there was at least one redeemable aspect of the episode that everyone could agree on—the costumes— Wesley’s sweaters included.

Not now, Doctor! Alice and Veronica welcome SNL writer and Star Trek newbie Julio Torres onto the pod to discuss the very sweaty ecstasy-fueled after school special known as The Naked Now from Season 1 of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

This ep is full of intense revelations. Data is fully functional." Troi is a basic bitch (this person who lives and works in space has pictures of galaxies all over her room). Yar is sexually empowered. And we find out who has the best (and weirdest) pick-up lines and who sweats first (and last) on the Enterprise.

Plus, the exploitation of the Other, the Bridge of Shame, a Jordy pain check-in, and the very first Q-Tip!
