It's Friday Funday and I'm up to no good telling stories on my littlest little one. All kids do this stuff, cuz...they're kids! It takes a while to learn some of these lessons we adults say we understand fully (even though some adults just refuse to be good kids).
I stepped into the lab and threw down a riff on a remark I made to my tiny tot this morning "I'm not your butler, honey." And it went downhill from there. Enjoy the ride!
There was a time home movies were taken with actual movie cameras...then we got video cassette cameras...and eventually smartphones. Technology is wild, huh?
Are we recording the right things with our new In-Pocket Studios? How do we value this ability that would be completely alien to prior generations?
I like questions that make us think. Join me as I reminisce about a simpler time and try to make sense of a more complex one.
Did your parents ever try to scare the hell out of you with tales of a horrible monster that could punish you for doing something "wrong"?
Is there a bogeyman under your bed? In your closet? Outside in the yard?
Should we be scared? Or is it all just a mythical construct designed to control us using our own fear and lack of experience and knowledge?
Trent Takes On the Bogeyman...young me would be impressed.
As someone who suffered a major back injury, I have serious issues from time to time including pain and loss of movement. After several years away (and failed attempts to find a cause for my issues through my primary care physician and a few specialists), I finally gave chiropractic another go.
How did it go? Well, it's been a while since I recorded this episode, but the results are still the same...listen and find out!
In a TTO first, I try my hand at a zoom interview with a friend I haven't seen in a very long time. Join Greg Chavez (a real-life educator) and me as we reconnect by sharing an old story or two. Then we had an interesting discussion on what it's like to teach virtually, different paths to knowledge, positivity in our modern society, generational differences, and much more. Ya know...normal stuff.
My personal favorite episode to date. Hopefully you'll find all of this as interesting as I did. Enjoy!
Another attempt at bringing you the biggest stories of the week (Nov 8-14) in only 5 minutes!!! (Spoiler: fail)
Some news from the TTO pod, including my first review...which made me super happy.
Enjoy your Sunday, everyone! Follow the show on Twitter @TrentTakesOn or email me at [email protected] (it was free).
It's Friday Funday and I take a walk down memory lane and share one of my favorite television experiences of all time...Iron Chef!
If you remember this wacky Japanese cooking show, awesome! If not...I walk you through the insanity the only way I know how.
Have a little fun with me before the weekend kicks off by hearing how Iron Chef still happens...in my own kitchen!
Complete with horrible karate sound effects!
No music, just a somber thank you to our veterans. Thoughts about how we can support veterans everyday. Short and to the point. Here's a couple of numbers to share:
Veteran's Affairs Dept. main information line: 1-800-698-2411
Veteran's Crisis Line: 1-800-273-8255
Never be afraid to ask for help. True strength is found together.
Thank you for your service, vets.
Do you ever record a project and sit down to edit it, only to discover you lost your train of thought completely during recording?
Did you spend the better part of an hour trying to edit it back into coherence before throwing up your hands and shuffling the project off to the "never see the light of day" folder?
Well...I did. And it's not the first time. So here's the bailout episode I recorded afterwards where I discuss the failure of the first try, and then had a meeting with my Creative Director to noodle some new ideas. Then I call on TrentNation (trademark pending) to send me your ideas, comments, and random thoughts...cuz, it was a rough morning. Enjoy!
Living in Southern California gives you a lot of practice dealing with traffic. Freeways are choked with the cars of millions of commuters every day. But when those freeways get so bogged down, you can't move at all...that's GRIDLOCK.
What does this have to do with anything? Listen and find out. I'm going somewhere with all of this...unlike the traffic you want to avoid.
