Facebook took down a Trump campaign ad that tried to scare grandma about “Dangerous Mobs of far-left groups”. That could be us he’s talking about… more or less minus returning guest Sarah Wagner (she’s Libertarian, so she occupies her own space).

We celebrate what the Dangerous Mobs did with Confederate statues on the Capitol grounds this weekend (we’re including the Governor in that, as he ordered more monuments removed). Gary did a little tour of those monuments back in TTS 58.

And we celebrate the SCOTUS decision on LGBTQ and Title 7.

Another happy thought surrounds the legislature unanimously passing a pair of bills, the Second Chance Act and the First Step Act, allowing judges more latitude in sentencing and expunging the record of some types of criminal offenders.

Jen and Gary round out the talk-a-thon discussing how Jeffery Billman was fired as the editor at Indy-Week even though he apologized for missing an important story of sexual harassment at a Raleigh restaurant. Jen knows a little more about the story that was reported in the N&O and Indy-Week.

And we sort of rate our Skype (or Zoom) rooms. Jen is generous with Gary. Gary doesn’t really return the favor.

NannyJen’s Trivia (not ‘trivial’) friend Paul Guille came down with a case of the Covids a couple weeks ago. He tells us his story (in his charming British accent, because he’s from Essex).

Hmm, that doesn’t seem like it accounts for two hours and thirteen minutes (more on the video side, because we ‘roll tape’ for nearly 15 minutes before starting the show). So, well, we do review the 36 activities (ranked) by coronavirus risk level and Jen’s attempt to visit the first ever Durham Black Farmer’s Market. There’s about 9 seconds on something called Kinder Eggs. And right toward the end we spend a few minutes on the Defund the Police thing. So yeah, that did it.

Wake Stone Corp. wants to excavate a new quarry on the other side of Crabtree Creek from their existing quarry on the edge of Umstead Park (at Harrison Ave. and I-40). The Umstead Coalition and TORC (Triangle Off-Road Cyclists) have a better idea: develop the area for recreational use, eventually as a commercial/recreational hub on the edge of Umstead and the RDU Airport. Wake Stone thought they had a deal with the RDU Airport Authority to lease the public land for their new quarry. UC and TORC got in the way.

In this program, four members of UC and TORC discuss the issue ahead of a June 23 Virtual Public Meeting to be conducted by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources. You can participate by signing up to speak at the meeting, or filing comments in the 10 days following the meeting.

That’s not all. The RDU Airport Authority consists of representatives from four government entities: Wake and Durham Counties, and the cities of Raleigh and Durham. The RDU AA did not consult with those entities when extending the lease offer to Wake Stone. The Umstead Coalition thinks they should have.

Chris Telesca has a beef with the Democratic Party, from Wake County all the way up to Washington. It’s not just that they’re not Progressive enough (stacked with what he calls Conserva-Dems), but they lie and cheat and steal to keep their hold on power. And it costs the party elections. He says.

Or maybe he’s just torqued that they’re not doing what he wants them to do.

But hey, we did a whole episode (two hours and twenty-two minutes worth), so I should just let him explain it.

Today’s technical difficulty is in the video, not the audio. Mostly it was Zoom not behaving the way it used to. A setting someplace that I’ll be up all night trying to find and fix. Oh, and Chris’s crappy computer and Internet (sure, blame him), so his audio kinda breaks up a lot. Especially when he gets excited. So it’s both the audio and video. But not really much echo.
