Every man, no matter how old he is, still carries the echo of one longing: *“Dad, are you proud of me?”* The way that question is answered – or never answered – shapes our confidence, our choices, and even the way we see God.
In this episode of *Tribe Talk*, Mike and Jim explore the deep impact of a father’s love, drawing from John Eldredge’s book *Fathered By God*. Eldredge writes, “The safety that a father’s strength provides allows a boy to be a boy, creates a universe for a boy’s heart to come fully alive.” A good father doesn’t remove every risk; he creates a safe enough space for his son to take chances, fail, get back up, and grow into a man.
Mike and Jim share stories from their own relationships with their earthly fathers – the strengths, the gaps, the blessings, and the wounds. Then they hold those experiences up to the original design: the way our Heavenly Father loves, protects, disciplines, and launches His sons into their purpose.
In this conversation, they talk about:
- How a father’s presence or absence shapes a man’s view of God and himself
- Why so many men live with quiet insecurity, even when they’re successful on the outside
- What it looks like to receive the love of the Father when your earthly dad couldn’t or didn’t give it
- Practical steps to become a different kind of father (or spiritual father) to the next generation
If you’ve ever wrestled with feeling “not enough,” struggled to connect with God as Father, or wondered how to break unhealthy patterns in your own family line, this episode will speak directly to you.
Listen in as Mike and Jim point you back to the perfect love of the Father and invite you to live, lead, and love from that place of security.
We finally stopped trying to figure out the "what women want" question and simply asked the gals!
🙌
The Junto Tribe Man is a Disciple, Servant, Scholar, Warrior, Craftsman, Explorer, & Leader. We seek to define these terms in the lens of the Trinity.
From the very beginning in the garden, we are called to serve our wives well. We are on a journey to discover what that looks like. Let’s shorten the route.
💥
But what about the women?
And what do they need from us?
🤷♂️
We sat down with our wives, Julie Sanders & Sarah Marion and asked them plainly...
What do women want from their Junto Tribe Man?
👇
And, wow...
... did they have ANSWERS!
Here’s what to listen for —
🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
💙 We are called as couples to enable both partners to chase their dreams.
(Yes, share THEIR dreams, too.)
💙 The hierarchy of relationships in the Christian home are as follows:
1️⃣ God first and always
2️⃣ Your spouse… by a long shot
3️⃣ Your children… distant third
💙 Our differences make us stronger as a couple… as “One Flesh” we are made to fill in the gaps for each other.
(Think about it. The differences make you BETTER TOGETHER!)
💙 Leadership is putting your person and their needs before your own.
🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Final thoughts:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres" (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).
The word Apostle stems from the greek word Apostolos AND describes envoys who were sent out for the purpose of expanding the empire.
Their job?
Make conquered lands look more like Rome. When the emperor would visit, he would feel like he was home. 👑
When Jesus went to the cross the disciples changed the name of their band to Apostles.
Why?
Because they were given a mandate-- to prepare earth for the return of the King.
👑
That mandate remains today for you and me and it is time that we step into our new role as sons of the living God.
Here’s what to listen for —
👉 I cannot earn my way into Heaven. I already have access. Now, I need to simply love God and love others.
👉 We live forever in a “Grant Covenant”…meaning God has freely accepted responsibility for our salvation through the blood of His son.
👉 Do my part… Prepare, Execute, Recover... Repeat
👉 It’s time to “Prepare the way.”
Final thoughts:
You don’t have to be scared. You have a job to do. It’s time we take our mandate seriously and usher the Kingdom of Heaven to earth.
You are an apostle.
Maybe you can relate…
Do you look at service as a burden?
Are you quick to complain about the problem but provide no (or even slow) fixes?
Do you dedicate yourself to your job but neglect your family?
Does the thought of ministry bore you?
Do you struggle to answer God’s call on your life because you are “unqualified" or not ready?
Do you feel trapped in your sin?
Do you have a better relationship with your phone than you do your creator or the people you care about?
Are you scared to talk about your faith?
🤷♂️
This week we recap session 3 from Infil 2.1 at Realife Camp where Jim destroys the notion that we have to stay trapped in our “weak sauce” approach to faith to discover how to harness Heaven’s power and authority.
At the beginning of the session, the group watched a video of the New Zealand All Blacks Men’s Rugby Team perform the Haka. To view the video associated with the audio go here.
💥
Here’s what to listen for in Jim's talk--
✅ God uses the most unlikely to showcase HIS power and authority.
✅ God will use your unique gifts to give you access and placement.
✅ The devil WILL use fear and chaos to convince you there’s nothing you can do to win victory.
✅ There is no shortage of naysayers.
✅ The world will tell you to fight the battle their way…God will show you the right way.
✅ God gives us the tools to get the job done…be bold…and throw the freakin' rock!!!
🪨 🪨 🪨
Final thoughts:
Men… we must get this right.
Our wives, children, friends, and church are depending on us.
No more "weak sauce" approaches to faith. We need to be bold.
We need to stand in the gap to face the challenges this world throws at us.
When God says, “Who shall I send, and who will go for us?” we must boldly declare, “Here am I, send me!”
More from Infil 2.1 at Realife Camp (no, that's not a typo-- that's how they spell it!)...
Mike taps into his professional expertise as a strength coach to describe how the spirit, body, & soul connect to maximize performance… specifically performance for the Kingdom.
👇
Result = learn how to link physical and spiritual principles to perform FROM love, not FOR love.
💙
Here’s what to listen for —
⚙️ The WHY of Human Performance
The aim is to improve spiritual, cognitive, physical, and emotional potential so that an individual can move and operate effectively, efficiently, and safely in their Area of Operations (AOR)
⚙️ The WHAT of Human Performance
The specific developmental program designed and driven by the needs of the individual and the performance profile that individual needs for living a life of purpose.
⚙️The HOW of Human Performance
Every day is training day…
Prepare
Engage
Recover
♼ Repeat
🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Final thoughts:
Everyone has an “Area of Operations” that encompasses at a minimum family & friends, workplace or school, and community.
Each man must train to operate effectively in his AOR to infiltrate, interrupt, and influence the culture. This mission is too important to ignore.
We just wrapped up Infil 2.1, and it was... as we always say... epic.
🔥
This week we recap the 4 major sessions from the event.
Mike Sanders leads us off with a riveting discussion about identity and purpose. He dives into Christian world view and sets the stage to answer the “Big 5” questions in life...
⁉️ Where did I come from?
⁉️ Who am I?
⁉️ What’s the meaning of it all?
⁉️ How should I live?
⁉️ Where am I going?
Learn how you can infiltrate your area of responsibility, interrupt corruption and evil, and Influence the environment in a positive way.
Here’s what to listen for —
⭐️ Identity = I am a son of God
⭐️ Purpose = Usher Heaven to earth
⭐️ Infil = Men don’t retreat, we advance
Final thoughts:
God is calling us as men to do hard things for the Kingdom. It’s not going to be easy, but we need to do it anyway.
Our hope for you all is that when God says, “Who shall I send? And who will go for us?” you will boldly stand and say, “Here am I. Send me.”
Go ahead and move from timidity to boldness.
(Yes, of course... it's easier said than done.)
💥
The world has convinced us to live quiet and timid lives.
Don’t rock the boat-- you might offend people and getting "canceled."
⁉️
Today the guys explore what it means to let God worry about outcomes and consequences, toe the battle lines when he tells you to, and throw the rock-- just like David.
Here’s what to listen for--
🪨 God will use most unlikely to showcase His power and authority.
🪨 God will use your unique gifts to give you access and placement.
And, at the same time...
😈 The devil WILL use fear and chaos to convince you there’s nothing you can do to win victory
😈 There is never a shortage of naysayers and negative voices
😈 The world will tell you to fight the battle THEIR way… God will show you the RIGHT way.
Final thought...
Bottom line...
👇
God gives us the tools to get the job done. Be bold, and throw the freakin' rock!!!
💥💥💥
Two big "wins" today.
First, Mike and Jim test out the new podcast equipment...
Second, they brought a Junto board member and friend, Chris Jenkins, into the mix. Rather than a quick 10-minute mic/equipment check, the Tribe got to hear how Chris went to church “just to shut up” his friend and found himself walking with Christ almost 50 years later.
This story is filled with wisdom, faith, grace, and patience...
... and three dudes also learned a little something about recording podcasts.
🎙️
Here’s what to listen for:
👉 God will use the unlikeliest people and circumstances to get your attention
👉 God is patient with your stubbornness (He can literally "wait you out")
👉 Little acts of faith add up to massive moves for the Kingdom
Final thoughts:
Take the next step… not the perfect step. Just the next one.
The conditions for your life will never be perfect to start walking with God. It is by God’s grace and the blood of Jesus that we are sanctified and forever-stamped "worthy."
Now it's your turn to start walking it out...
