Welcome to Trip Talks, you are inside The Immigration Zone
Hello, hello, everyone. This is U.S. immigration attorney Hardam Tripathi from Trip-Law, and this is another great session of Trip-Talks today.
Right now, as we all know, Venezuela has a dictator. Dictator's name is Maduro, and he's currently making life very difficult for Venezuelans in Venezuela.
So on March 8th of 2021, the the newly sworn secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, basically announced the designation of Venezuela as a country that would now qualify for that temporary protected status.
That's based on the conditions in that home country of Venezuela that prevents many Venezuelans from returning safely to Venezuela.
Those Venezuelan nationals who are trying to return safely are unable to do so because of the unstable conditions that do happen to be present in the country of Venezuela. And so this designation is now going to allow Venezuelan nationals and basically those whose nationality, where they were last residing in Venezuela to file initial applications for their temporary protected status. And that TPS status provided that they do meet certain eligibility requirements that are required by USCIS, the State Department and the US government.
