On episode 43 of Tritoncast, women's rowing alumna Alyssa Dixon-Word Milliron '13 joins the Triton Spotlight. Milliron reflects on her time with the Tritons, which included an incredible NCAA Championship appearance in her senior year. While she was competing at UC San Diego, she also balanced challenging classes and earned recognition as a CoSIDA Academic All-American. Now, she's working as a physician, advocating for better gender affirming and addiction care. New episodes of Tritoncast premiere each Wednesday.

In episode 42 of Tritoncast, junior Stuart Boynton of the men's rowing team joins the Triton Spotlight. Boynton, a native of Cape Town, South Africa, tells Jenny and Jeff about his high school rowing experiences, which included the South Africa National Championships. Plus, Boynton discusses why he chose UC San Diego and some of his favorite memories so far from his Triton rowing career. In addition, Jenny puts him through the ringer for a round of Quick Picks!

We're talkin' baseball on episode 41 of Tritoncast! Senior relief pitcher Luke Mattson joins the pod to talk about his winding path to UC San Diego, what it was like pitching during the College World Series, and what went into his decision to return for a second "senior season." She also reflects on some of her favorite memories at UC San Diego and shares her secret to staying active these days!

Head softball coach Patti Gerckens is in the Triton Spotlight this week on episode 39 of Tritoncast as our celebration of Women's Herstory Month continues! Gerckens reflects on her playing career at North Carolina and some of her favorite memories over her 29 years as UC San Diego's head coach. What was the 2011 national championship season like? Oue celebration of Women's Herstory Month continues on episode 39 of Tritoncast! Jeff and Jenny are joined by UC San Diego Hall of Famer Judy Sweet, who served as Tritons' Athletic Director for 24 years and was the first female membership president of the NCAA! We'll hear how Title IX changed women's athletics, how UC San Diego moved from competing in NAIA to Division III, and later, Division II, and so much more. We also dive into Judy's standout badminton career at the University of Wisconsin and her new love for pickleball!

March is Women's Herstory Month, and we're celebrating all month long on Tritoncast! This week, we look back at some of the strong Triton women who have joined Jenny and Jeff on the show thus far. On episode 37, we re-introduce you to professional athletes Itzel González (soccer) and Sarah Lizotte (water polo); Shruti Kamath a former Triton rower who joined the US Navy; and Justine Ang Fonte, a former tennis standout who has changed the way health education is taught in New York City.

Baseball season is here! The Tritons are set to begin their debut Division I season later this week against San Diego State. On episode 35 of Tritoncast, we’ll chat with former UC San Diego baseball shortstop Shay Whitcomb. Last year, he became the highest drafted position player in UC San Diego history when he was selected in the fifth round of the MLB draft by the Houston Astros. He tells us what that draft experience was like and how he’s been training during the pandemic. To celebrate the start of the season, Jenny and Jeff call on pinch-hitter Ted Mendenhall -- the voice of UC San Diego baseball -- to conduct this week's Triton Spotlight conversation.
