    Welcome (back) the podcast, friends!

If you're new here, I'm glad you found my podcast and we're now connected!

I have been open about struggling with my mental health and being diagnosed with anxiety disorders, and a form of depression. I find being open beneficial for me, but also a lot of people who are struggling with their mental health/well being.  That is part of the reason Triumph After Trauma exists!

I've been getting questions recently about my diagnosis' and how I've found ways to cope with being mentally and chronically ill, but especially about anxiety and anxiety disorders. I've had great conversations but have also noticed that many people don't quite understand all the anxiety disorders there are.

That isn't exactly surprising, given there is still a big stigma surrounding mental health. So, I thought today friends, we could have a conversation about the types of anxiety disorders there are! There is still a big stigma around mental health, and I'm happy to be a friend who helps you understand things surrounding mental illness, grief, and trauma better!

  • Ep. 87: "Small" Daily Habits That Benefit My Mental Health + A Chat About The Journal I'm Publishing!

Welcome back to the show, friends!

If you're new here, I'm so glad you've found my podcast and we're now connected!

There is a lot of stigma surrounding mental illness and many misunderstandings about how people should take care of theirs. What kind of resources, habits, and support an individual needs depends on what they're diagnosed with - mental health is complex.

I'm diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and dysthymia, and personally have found over the years that being consistent with certain daily habits (that seem small to most people) has a positive impact on my mental health.

Of course things like therapy and medication are important, but a lot of people overlook the power of small daily habits, especially for people who are diagnosed with a mental illness/disability. Today, the power of five specific habits I'm committed to every single day we're going to chat about!

If you try any of the habits monthly - please stay committed to them for at least one month to understand what benefits there are! And when you've been consistent for at least one month, don't hesitate to DM me and let me know what said habit does for you!

  • Ep. 86: Hard Truths I Had To Truly Accept Before I Could Start Taking Care Of My Mental Health

    Welcome back friends!

If you're new here, I'm glad you found my podcast and we're now connected!

Life comes with high highs and low lows. It also involves many beautiful realizations and incredibly hard truths. When I was at my rock bottom with anxiety and depression, there was a period of time as much as I truly wanted to get better, there was resistance stopping me from being able to.

That resistance was me not willing to accept certain hard truths about life, mental health, and how the world works. There are three specific lessons I had to learn and truly accept before I could do any real healing.

Tune in to today's episode to learn what those three hard truths/facts of life are friends, and why they're so important to learn if you want to truly better your mental health or work through trauma.

Welcome back to the podcast, friends!

If you're new here, I'm glad you found my podcast and we're now connected!

For the past month or so I have been feeling both gratitude and grief deeply. I believe as humans no matter how well life may be going, we are always grieving something on someone. I also believe that no matter how hard, scary, or impossible life may get, we can find things to be grateful if we look for them.  Since this is on my heart, I decided we're going to have a conversation about this today!

Get ready to hear a little bit about my story, and have a great chat about balancing the conflicting feelings that are grief and gratitude. Also, take a look below for some different resources/tips that might help you feel gratitude without feeling awkward or deeply feel your grief, and help you honour both feelings.

  • Ep. 82: A Conversation About PTSD And Common Myths Surrounding It

Welcome back to the podcast, friends!

If you're new here, I'm so glad you found my podcast and we're now connected!

It has been two weeks since I've released a podcast episode, and that was not at all intentional. Before we dive into what today's episode is about, I'd like to apologize for not being consistent with this as some humans are.

This podcast is all about trauma and mental health/awareness and I'm open about being diagnosed with anxiety and depression, so I hope as much as I feel bad for not being able to be consistent the way some people can be, you all understand I'm being as consistent as I can be with my mental health struggles. This month has been rough, and next week I will share what has been going on as well as the coping mechanisms I've been using to try and keep myself in check.

For now, I'd like to share the episode I have slowly been working on the past couple of weeks! Every human will experience something traumatic at least once in their life, this is an unfortunate part of our human experience. For some of us, PTSD may be something we experience in life depending on how our bodies and brains react to a traumatic event. Today we're having a great and important conversation about PTSD, and some of the common  myths surrounding it. All mental health diagnoses still have too many stigmas around them, and I want to be a part of helping break them. So friends, let's debunk a few myths surrounding PTSD!

Through the good days, frustrating moments, and setbacks I found there were three lessons I needed to (re)learn that kept coming up. In today's episode friends, I'm sharing those lessons with you because I think that they can benefit us all in both our best and darkest seasons.

  • Ep. 80: Five Ways To Tell If We Are Gaslighting Ourselves

Welcome back to the show, friends!

If you're new here, I'm happy you found my podcast and we're now connected!

On today's episode I wanted to discuss something that might be a little bit uncomfortable for some people, but I feel is an important topic to speak openly about.

We know how it feels to be gaslight by someone, but have you ever considered that you could also be doing that to yourself and unintentionally/unconsciously causing yourself harm?

If you just said to yourself "no. never even thought of it until now", that is how I felt until just a few weeks ago when this topic was in an Instagram post I read. We can't help ourselves stop doing something that isn't goof for us if we don't even realize we may be doing. So today we're diving into this topic friends, and we're going to chat about five signs we may be gaslighting ourselves and some things we can do to stop!

    Quicks Tips

Defending Peoples Bad Behavior: make an effort to be self-aware (journaling can help identify what you're defending) and be willing to make a conscious effort to slowly pull away from that habit and replace it with one that benefits you/your mental health

Blaming Yourself For Everything: try to remember no human can be to blame for everything, we're all just having a human experience and doing the best we can (also give yourself grace)

Questioning Your Decisions: this form of self-doubt may stem from the way you were raised, but others not dreaming/thinking/feeling the way you do doesn't mean anything about you is bad or wrong. Work on allowing people to think what they want, while respecting yourself enough to go for what YOU want

You Have A Strong Inner Critic: practice being self compassionate as you work to quiet/silence your inner critic, but be self aware of what thoughts aren't yours so you can work to consciously change those thoughts

Doubting You Memories; if you know something is a real memory, acknowledge others remember it differently or were affected in a different way but also validate what you experienced and feel is real - others not being affected (as much) by something doesn't mean how you remember/feel doesn't matter
