Join Colin, Jeff, and special guest Christian Stoner as we round out our look at musicians who've turned their hand to acting in films that are not about them, but also not-not about them. This time come with us as we travel back to 1995 Detroit, a blue and green tinted industrial landscape and our hero Bunny, as he tries to be king of his corner of the world for at least a week.

Dearly beloved, we are gathered hear today to discuss the beautiful 1984 oddity that is Purple Rain. Join Jeff, Colin, and special guest self proclaimed "greatest Prince fan ever" Christian Stoner as we attempt to purify ourselves in the waters of lake Minnetonka, before turning on Jeff because though he liked Purple Rain the movie, he didn't like Purple Rain the song, so deserves everyone's scorn. There are plenty of movies about musician's rise to fame and glory, but not as many that star actual musicians playing exaggerated versions of themselves, and fewer still where they don't care about fame and glory but rather that they get to the party on time, dance, rap, and get their f**k on. Travel back to the early 90's as we're joined by CHRISTIAN STONER, writer of the show's main theme as together we delve into what he confidently describes as "the best movie of all time."
You know what time it is.
Also stick around for the end, where we play the full version of the title music "Black."

Welcome to the end of our end of the world deep dive with DEEP IMPACT, the less flashy sibling of '98's big swinger ARMAGEDDON. It didn't have the budget, the special effects, the spinning cameras or Bruce Willis trying to beat Ben Affleck to death with a pipe, but it did have heart, annoying astronauts, and Denise Crosby.

Welcome back to part two of our dive into end of the world films, specifically asteroid/comet impact movies. This ones a bit of a fudge because technically this is a metaphor for something else, but still a horrid reminder that if any of these impact events happened in the real world we'd be too busy spinning conspiracy theories to do anything about it. Sleep tight kids.

So here we are, at the end of our journey as we look at the times movie studios stuffed up their franchise plans so hard that they had to abandon everything after the first instalment. In fact, by finishing this series of films we've managed to do what they couldn't. We started with JOHN CARTER, Tom Cruise's THE MUMMY, and here we are with 2007's THE GOLDEN COMPASS, a film which like the franchise it was meant to spawn, abruptly ends before it was supposed to. So join Colin and Jeff as they discuss the film and what went wrong.
SPOILER WARNING - Not only do we discuss this film, but we also mention the book series and more recent TV adaptation HIS DARK MATERIALS, with the last ten minutes or so being particularly spoilery, so watch out for that. There is a warning in the show itself, just before we get into it.

Part two of our deep dive into the times movie studios had big ambitions, dollar signs for eyes, and the desire to start their own franchises in the hope they would be money printing machines, only to completely botch it on the first attempt.
This week we're looking at Tom Cruise's THE MUMMY remake from 2017, the first and last instalment of Universal's DARK UNIVERSE franchise.
At time of writing it's on Netflix if you want to give it a punt.

Hi there, over the next three weeks we're going to look at the curious phenomenon of the FRANCHISE FALSE START, where movie studios confidently bet the farm then biff it on the first attempt. We start with the biggest box office failure of all time (still hasn't been beaten), 2012's JOHN CARTER.
Join us as we cover not only the film, but also the reasons why this all fell apart in Disney's lap.
If you want to follow along you can find the film buried deep on Disney+ or the bargain bin of the WH Smiths at Membury Service Station, Westbound, M4 between junction 14 and 15.
*A NOTE ON THE SOUND QUALITY*
This was recorded while Colin was at work, so you can hear school bells and students in the corridors and all kinds of nonsense, so apologies for that.

Welcome to the final part of our deep dive into the world of PRE-MARVEL MARVELS, and what existence was like before the MCU.
This week we are looking at the first heroes of the comic book movie renaissance: Mr. Eric Blade the First.
So pour yourself a Horlicks, and settle down for 45 or so minutes of audible silk with Jeff and Colin as they ice-skate up-hill like a pair of mother-f**kers.
