DESCRIPTION:
In January 2022, police entered a home in Slaughter, Louisiana, and found a scene that would haunt veteran investigators for years. Thirty-six-year-old Lacey Fletcher was found dead on the living room couch—semi-naked, sitting upright, and fused into a crater worn through the upholstery and cushion. She weighed just 96 pounds. Her body was covered in urine, liquid feces, maggots, and severe ulcers. The coroner said she had been sitting in the same position for at least twelve years. Her parents, Clay and Sheila Fletcher, were well-known in the community—church-going, friendly, and respected. They claimed Lacey had severe autism and social anxiety and simply refused to leave the couch. They said they brought her meals and cleaned her sores. But medical records showed Lacey had not seen a doctor since 2002, when she was sixteen. In 2010, her parents visited a psychologist without her, asking for advice, and were told to hospitalize her. They never did. The coroner ruled her death a homicide caused by severe chronic neglect. Her parents were charged with second-degree murder, later reduced to manslaughter, and pleaded no contest in 2024. Lacey's teacher remembered her as a smiling girl with beautiful blue eyes who loved volleyball. She disappeared from public view at sixteen. She was never seen by anyone outside her parents again. Listen if you dare.
