True Scary Story

In 2008, a hunter scouting for an upcoming elk season deep in the Blue Mountains of Washington planned nothing more than a quiet night alone in the wilderness. But after falling asleep on a remote ridge, he woke to a pounding, unexplained headache and struggled to catch his breath. As he tried to figure out what was happening to his body, an eerie whooping call began echoing through the darkness, coming from a large animal that seemed to be challenging him.

In this true scary story, we hear from Breanna. Growing up in Waco, Texas, our caller believed the strange activity in her home was just childhood imagination until it followed her across state lines, through new houses, and into adulthood. From shadow figures and whispered voices to a terrifying shared encounter in an Amish home… and then from violent energy inside her brother’s room to a presence that seemed to want her at Cameron Park’s infamous Witches Castle… the experiences continued spanning nearly 30 years.
This is a layered, deeply personal account of recurring entities, drained energy, and something that may have attached itself long ago.

In this true scary story, we hear from Andrea. She grew up as the only girl between two brothers in a small, aging home where strange things seemed to follow her from childhood into adulthood. It began with her name being called when no one was there. Later came footsteps on the porch, invisible hands tugging at her feet, and a ceiling fan that moved on its own.
But the most powerful encounters didn’t happen until after tragedy struck her family in 2019. What followed were moments so vivid, so emotional, that she still wonders if it was a dream or an actual visitation. Was it grief? A subconscious coping mechanism? Or was someone she loved still trying to reach her?

In this true scary story, we hear about what started as childhood summers in the remote Allegheny Mountains to solitary camping trips as a young adult. It was there where one man believed he understood the woods of West Virginia. He had the directions and knew the trails. But during one late-night hike back to his car, the forest changed. The insects stopped making noise, and suddenly he heard a large creature chasing after him.
Was it a predator? A legend? Or something far older that still lingers in those mountains?

Some people experience one strange moment in their lives, others grow up surrounded by them. From a childhood encounter involving a skeletal face at a bedroom window to years of shadow figures, unseen hands, and voices coming from empty rooms, this episode follows one listener’s lifelong relationship with the unexplained. As an adult, the activity intensifies, focused around a single presence that peers from doorways and vanishes when noticed.

In this true scary story, Evelyn has lived in the same house since early childhood, and for as long as they can remember, something has lived there with them. Strange sounds, unseen movement, animals refusing to enter certain spaces… all leading to one moment that still makes their heart race years later.
What happened in the middle of an ordinary afternoon shattered every rational explanation and left behind physical proof that something in the house can act with intent.

Some childhood memories never fade, no matter how hard you try to bury them.
In this episode, we hear two chilling true stories told by people who were far too young to understand what they were seeing. The first begins with a single night, a terrifying sound, and glowing red eyes watching from outside a bedroom window, an experience two sisters would not speak about for years. The second unfolds across decades inside a quiet house on the east side of Toledo, Ohio, where a shadowy presence seems tied to one specific room… and one family.
Whether these encounters were warnings, hauntings, or something far darker, both stories share one unsettling truth: some things don’t go away just because you grow up.

In this true scary story, we hear from Tracey. From the time she could walk, she knew something was watching her. What began as a childhood fear followed her through foster homes, adulthood, and motherhood... growing stronger with every major change in her life. As others finally began to witness what she had always felt, the truth became harder to deny: this was definitely not imagination, sensitivity, or coincidence. It was something attached to her family line… and it wasn’t done yet.

In this true creepy story, we hear about the campgrounds that Jacob's family inherited. A place that was made to unplug and relax soon turned into a grounds where the unexplained lingers. Experiences regarding mimics (and potential doppelgängers) from out in the dark woods.

In this true scary story, we look back on a childhood shaped by fear, family secrets, and an unsettling presence tied to Crystal's great-grandmother. From disturbing discoveries in a backyard to strange dreams (that felt more like warnings) this story explores how the past lingers and how some people may be born more sensitive to what’s unseen.  I really hope you enjoy this deeply personal account of generational darkness and unexplainable intuition.
