Scott began graduate school in New York, but followed his mentor to Florida State University where he obtained his Ph.D in Clinical Psychology. Scott completed his predoctoral residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and became a professor at Brigham Young University. It is fairly common to come across a member of the newer generations who has rejected religion in some form or another. Not only are people moving away from the religions of their childhood, but atheism has become a frequent substitute. Scott Braithewaite has researched the psychology behind this generational shift.
