TruVue Podcast

With the world being more than halfway through a year away from #2020, we thought we’d do something with this week’s episode. This week, the crew got together to discuss #movies and #tvshows they discovered during the pandemic. Then we #choose one to #leaveinthepandemic and one to #bringback. First up, #PValley vs #Bridgerton. These are Jay's picks. Let us know if you agree with his picks in the comments below.

My lawd this week’s episode got a long ass title, hope y’all find it, #sheeesh. In this episode the crew gets to discuss the latest installment of the #Conjuring franchise that is #ConjuringTheDevilMadeMeDoIt. Whether or not you’ve seen any of the previous movies released in this #franchise, has no effect on your ability to follow the story in #ConjuringTheDevilMadeMeDoIt. Now, for some, this movie didn’t live up the the standard established by the prior films, but nonetheless it was enjoyable. The movie stars #RuairiOConnor who plays #ArneJohnson who willing invites a demonic spirit into his body to save the soul of his girlfriend’s brother #David, played by #JulianHillard. Now this gotta be #simping on the highest level bruh. #Debbie #Arnes girlfriend, her little brother would just have to be a #demon #spawn if it were me. What kinda #box she got. Homie literally took one for the team, #FOH. Anyway, so Arne’s simp ass takes on the demon and goes and kills some people and used “demonic possession” as a defense in court. Fam, if this ain’t #whiteprivilege at its finest. #JohnnieCochran could never, well maybe, #Idk. But for real though, the movie is well layered, and has components that go beyond the fright and gruesome imagery that’s typical of #movies in this #genre. Are you taking on the #devil in the name of #love? Let us know in the comments below.

In this episode the crew gets to discuss #Cruella currently available on #DisneyPlus. The movie stars #EmmaStone as #Cruella and #EmmaThompson who plays the #Baroness who we later learn to have played an integral part #creating the woman we came to know as #Cruella. It was the battle of the #Emmas and both gave an amazing performance. The movie was #grunge #London at its finest; from the music, to the slang, and most importantly the fashion, all masterfully executed. However, it wouldn’t be the #truvue without a little ride on the #shortbus. Bruh why was this thing sooooo long. My lawd man. At least 30 min of my life I want back from #Disney. We get it her #childhood was awful, her mama died, she was homeless, gimme 1 minute, a stick, a blindfold, and I bet I point to 15 people with the same store on the #southside. Also, #Disney got some nerve with this #splitpersonaliry shit. #Jemini or not, your ass does once #yodo. Anyway let us know what you thought in the comments below.

In this week’s episode, the crew gets together to discuss #Spiral. The movie is currently in #theaters and is also available for #rent on #Appletv and let’s face it we all dropped $20 on worse. The revives the #Saw saga and picks up with a new #copycat #killer who takes aim at the corrupt police department. It’s a timely spin on the #horror movie genre. With #police #brutality and #corruption being so heavily reported on in recent years, it makes this one just a bit more relatable. The movie #stars #ChrisRock as the lead detective in solving the murders of his fellow officers and he wasn’t that bad. We mean he wasn’t good and if it wasn’t for slight comedic breaks he would be #trash but it was a bearable performance. The man couldn’t even #pooky correctly so we think it’s a fair assessment of his performance. #MaxMinghella who played his partner was extremely predictable and if you wait for this to end up on #HBOMAX like everything else, you will see why. Overall this was a decent flick to watch when out of options. The #soundtrack is another story, definitely needs to be on everyone’s playlist. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

In this week’s episode, the crew gets together to discuss #TheUpshaws on #Netflix. The series stars #MikeEpps,  #WandaSykes, and #KimFeilds, who some of us was more excited than another’s to see her #talent shine once again on the #tv screen. We loved #MikeEpps in this. He was comfortable and honest in his portrayals #Bennie, making his performance more enjoyable than his previous tv appearance. His comedic chemistry with #WandaSykes is amazing. Wanda plays #Lucretia and is meant to be the slick talking family member who never misses a #chance to take a #jab or two at #Bennie who quickly returns the favor. But what keeps you intrigued is the relationship between #Bennie #Regina #Upshaw. The two have been through a lot including #ghettotwins or more correctly the #breakbaby. The topic of #cheating was one of the more recurring story lines throughout the series. It left us wondering is a woman stronger for staying or weaker for not leaving? Let us know in the comments below.

Ummmmm, sooo am I the only one that didn’t know #lightning  could strike without #rain  or #thunder. Just minding your business then #boom #lightning. Why is this a thing people? I’m now convinced #lightning is #Gods #chancla, attacks quickly and seemingly from out of nowhere. Ok anyway, in this week’s episode the crew gets together to discuss #ThoseWhoWishMeDead staring #AngelinaJolie body looking like #sheneedsomemilk. That is not us shaming her it’s genuinely a point of concern. Even her co-star #FinnLittle who played #Connor in film thought to say something. Body and #CGI titties aside, this was just plain bad. The plot had more holes needing to be filled than the #bunnyranch when they ring that high roller bell (We heard). The sad part is that it wasn’t even an original idea which makes this just plain lazy. The movie was available on #HBOMax but seems to have fallen off the face of the #earth due to similar reviews. We would say go watch it and let us know, but really we took the #bullet, maybe watch paint dry?

In this week’s episode the crew gets together to discuss #Boogie which was the acting debut of the late great #PopSmoke. The movie is about a young #asian #basketball phenom named #Alfred, played by #TaylorTakahashi (#norelation) who transfers schools so he can play and win the championship against another young phenom #Monk played by #PopSmoke. So here’s the thing, the movie seems scattered. None of the stories seemed fully developed. #PopSmoke role throughout the trailers presented him as one of the #protagonists but he was barely in the movie. #Pop bodied his scenes but there wasn’t much to body. We saw glimpses of something special in #TaylorTakahashi but nothing that would be indicative of his true abilities as an actor. The same is true for the love interest #Eleanor played by #TaylourPaige. The film lacked direction and for that seemed to have served no purpose. It was enjoyable to see #Queens, #NewYork, and the fire ass soundtrack that caught the #vybz, that are always #venti by the way, of the city, but beyond that, there wasn’t much here. Many of the #broll footage seemed like they were left over from other movies filed in #NewYork like #Monster (be sure to check out our previous episode on #Monster and all our catalog at truvuepodcast.com #yaboimelvoice). Let us know if you saw a purpose in the comments below.

In this week’s episode the crew gets together to discuss #HereToday staring #TiffanyHaddish and #BillyCrystal, and is currently in #theaters. Sigh, this was a great story idea. A #comedian going through #dementia, talk about irony. Now here the maybe unnecessary part; insert quirky #sidekick or #love interest. This isn’t a slight to #TiffanyHaddish as we thought she did an amazing job, maybe stay away from the shellfish but nonetheless an overall good performance. It’s just seemed not needed. There were far more interesting stories within #BillyCrystal character, like what happens when the world keeps laughing with you but you aren’t #joking. #Coping with the loss of a loved one, and being reminded of the last words you had with that person. Did you mean the last thing you said? Was the time spent away from them #worthit. Still  #HereToday is a solid movie, you will #laugh #maybecry, and even get a little #angry. In this episode the crew gets together to discuss #Netflix latest #serialkiller #documentary the #SONSOFSOM. The documentary chronicles the story of the #killings that terrorized and crippled #NewYork city in the late 70’s. But the primary story was that of investigative journalist #Maury #Terry who became seemingly obsessed with proving that #Sam had multiple #sons. He developed a theory of well organized #cult that had infiltrated major American cities via small factions meant to bring about #chaos and #murder throughout the country. #MauryTerry beloved that the killings were not random but part of the cult’s #satanic belief that was started with #scientology and morphed into pure #evil. So do you believe his theory. Did #DavidBerkowitz act alone or was he under direction of the #Process #Church of the #Final #Judgement. Let us know in the comments.

She’s ma rock #pedico, #soda in da pot, cook it down, she’s ma rock. That’s right in this episode we are doing a #afterschool #antidrug episode. The crew gets together and discuss #Amazon #PrimeVideo #Bliss. The first thing is you aren’t watching the movie on the screen, but rather the movie within the movie on the screen. Feel High yet? Well now you get the feeling that #OwenWilson felt when around or something engulfed in #SalmaHayek. #OwenWilson plays a father of two, who recently lost his job, and his wife. He wants to escape reality and live in a world of #Bliss. The #Bliss world gives him confidence, beauty, love, and most importantly a sense of being wanted. With the last couple of years being #plagued by #covid #violence #racism and of course our #celebrityincheif it’s shocking more people aren’t using little #crystals to find their #BLISS. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

For those of us who #saynotodrugs here is a link explaining the film.
