At the launch of the Nova 106.9 series of on-location broadcasts of the Ash, Kip and Luttsy with Susie O'Neill breakfast show, Mediaweek had the chance to speak in-depth with O'Neill.
This new interview makes a nice companion piece to the recent In Her Own Words series Mediaweek partnered with Nova Entertainment for where spoke to inspirational women in radio. Mediaweek has been lucky to have done several podcasts with Ash, Kip and Luttsy at different times, so it was great to get time with the former swimming champ and one of the important pillars in the success the Brisbane breakfast show has enjoyed in recent years.
Although Nova was #1 in the first survey of 2018, it has been challenged in breakfast by Hit 105, something which O'Neill mention in our podcast. O'Neill talks frankly to Mediaweek about the decision not to jump straight into a media career after she stopped swimming. She also details how Nova Entertainment and her breakfast colleagues look after their star recruit and she remembers, with a fair amount of anger still, what she said on the record about former garden guru Don Burke's appalling and insulting behaviour toward her.
The interview gives listeners an insight into just what makes O'Neill so compelling on the radio.
