Mindhunter is the latest Netflix original series based on the true crime book, 'Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Crime Unit' written by John E. Douglass and Mark Olshaker. The series depicts the FBI's slow growing serial killer unit in 1977. Surpassing the standard viewpoint on the criminal element of the past, FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) interview imprisoned serial killers to try and broaden their understanding of the psychology of these type of criminals, and to hopefully help stop future killers. The series works very much in the same vein as "Silence of the Lambs." One has to understand how a killer's mind works in order to stop a killer. Mindhunter is the first step in the FBI's now famous "profilers" group of agents.
