Two And A Half Marks

Ah, the era of fantastic in ring work and hit-or-miss story telling. The Post-SHIELD WWE was a very interesting landscape; still had Super Cena, Stardust was born, the Usos did the Siva Tau (apologies for the misnaming), and Roman Reigns is actually a genuine realistic babyface. While the opening match sets a bar the rest of the card struggles to match, the main event was still a banger and we had a fun surprise Battle Royal. Just keep politics out of my wrestling. HALLELUJAH, WE HAVE GOOD WRESTLING! Takeover Philly was right at the beginning of the glory days of NXT, before the days of AEW and aborted call ups. Only 5 matches, 4 of them straight up singles matches, but when the "worst" matches are Ember Moon-Shayna Baszler and Kassius Ohno making *REDACTED* look like a Superstar, you are in for a treat. Also, the first WWE 5 Star Match since Punk-Cena MITB. Two And A Half Marks is not affiliated with the WWE/WWF/WCW/TNA/AEW/any promotion or any of the professional wrestlers named in this podcast. So, the Randomizer decided we haven't seen enough disappointing wrestling after The-PPV-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named, so we head to WCW's 2nd Bash At The Beach event. Maybe the only good thing about this card was that it actually took place on the beach. The lows are low, featuring a 4 match stretch that fails to be enjoyable in any sense of the word. At least Vader-Hogan was kinda cool? Two And A Half Marks is not affiliated with the WWE/WWF/WCW/TNA/AEW/any promotion or any of the professional wrestlers named in this podcast. DAVID WHY?!?! Yes, David decided for us to go back to what is regarded as the Worst Wrestling PPV that has ever been recorded with Heroes of Wrestling. There is nothing good on here. We have the lowest point in Jake Roberts' life, a bunch of washed guys trying to do anything athletic in the wring, but also WORLD HEAVYWIGHT CHAMP 2 COLD SCOPRIO SAVE US. We fast forwarded a whopping 2 PPVs in the future, with Royal Rumble 2012. With a "guest appearance by John Laurinaitus" to announce some news, his fingerprints are littered on the card. Most of the card is serviceable, and the Royal Rumble is a fun time, but honestly? It's all just okay. AKA "FINALLY, THE ROCK HAS COMEBACK FOR A MATCH". Headlined by John Cena and The Rock teaming against the Awesome Truth before they face each other at WrestleMania, this is one of those PPVs that time did not age well. A meaningless Survivor Series match, a large World Heavyweight title match and CM Punk being cool. Also, a couple of rants by David and Angelo, if that's your thing. Long before the days of the Thursday afternoon Saudi Arabian Supreme Live Event, Vince McMahon had an idea. The Tuesday Night Pay-Per-View. Spoilers, there's a reason why they wouldn't try it again until the mid-2000s. Any who, the main event was an eye sore, but the rest was surprisingly interesting, with Bret Hart doing Bret Hart Things and a very hot Macho Man-Jake the Snake feud. Yeah, we had another break. Blame Angelo. But we do get to revisit the peak of WCW with Uncensored 1997. With a very solid opening with Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko, the card quickly falls off until after the main event with STING. Also, this is a pro Buff Bagwell podcast. After an impromptu Winter Break, the Marks return with a card that has only 1 match that be described as memorable, but boy howdy how memorable it is. An Elimination Chamber match featuring Jericho, Benoit, Edge, HHH, Batista and Randy Orton hits 8 days a week, but please, protect your knees.
