In this interview, we get to know Melanie and hear about her role as Mayor and discuss how she got into the local council,  and what it means to be Mayor.
 
We learn about some of the important projects being worked on in the local community, including the Youth Council and how this operates, the strength of the rural community, and how the community connects and comes together during tough times, we discuss recent and upcoming events and also what Mels is watching online!

Welcome to the Public Art and Street Art episode.

In our latest show we (as always)  have so much to chat about and in this episode, we pay “homage”*  to all the brilliant artists and creative people in our community.

Ben gives an update on the awesome event happening in SA, including Womad and the exploding public art scene in Adelaide plus a rundown on some of his favourite artists and how some ugly buildings are getting an interesting refresh!

Kristy shares some interesting anecdotes on  Melbourne street and community-based laneway art, plus the backstory to the Taylor, Kanye, and Kim art in Richmond, Vic.

Our special VIP guest is Elizabeth Close. 
Elizabeth Close is a prolific South Australian artist with a lot of well-known and very large public works including some collaborations, we had the best chat with Elizabeth and are so grateful for her time.

We also catch up with Peter Douperouzal, President of the Nhill Silo Heritage Project, and how the works are progressing inside the Silo.

Women in Sport – Special Edition Episode 3 Either Side of Nhill.

In our third special episode, we celebrate all things Women in Sport. We have so much to chat about and this episode is an absolute ripper.

Sporting Royalty is in our family, with our Aunty Betty Kempster who was a pioneer in Australian Netball who in 1956 traveled to London and played matches at Wembley Stadium. We celebrate her brilliant achievements on the court and also as a track and field record holder for over 20 years!

Our Special VIP Guests include:

•  Dr. Kasey Symons the superstar from the Sport Innovation Research Group, at Swinburne University & co-founder of Siren Sport also joins us on the pod for a deep dive into the summer of women in sport including tennis, basketball, cricket, and winter Olympics. 
• Kat Colbert a local Nhill-ite who is passionate about community sport, a recently retired Netballer and coach, is now on multiple committees at the Nhill and District Sporting Club driving change, also a volunteer for Wimmera Regional Sports Association plus is President of the Nhill Basketball Association that coordinates Primary, Secondary, Men and Women competitions over summer.

Gday and Welcome to Episode 2 of Either Side of Nhill

With Kristy in Melbourne and Ben in Adelaide,  Nhill is our unofficial halfway mark, not sure if that is correct however in our family it’s halfway.

We talk about all the great stuff going on in our hometowns and of course focus on the fabulous town of Nhill and the Wimmera, which has so many hidden treasures which we are having so much fun discovering.

In our second episode, it’s Summer in the City. We talk about our Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Australian Open, the Adelaide International, Adelaide’s Festival of Cycling and Ben is getting excited about the Fringe coming in February.

We talk about our favourite street art including the incredible mural of Ash Barty and Dylan Allcott at Dendy Park Tennis Club.

Ben’s favourite street artist is Elizabeth Close, an indigenous artist who has some amazing public pieces around Adelaide and the regions of South Australia.

We are both big fans of sausage rolls, and after Kristy’s 12-month sausage roll hiatus, she is ready to get back on the wagon. Hear our favourite picks and see if you can do better!

 We really wanted to start a podcast, but it was important for it is a podcast with some purpose and of course lots of fun.

 The halfway mark between Adelaide and Melbourne is Nhill, not sure if that is correct however in our family it’s halfway.

 So we will be talking about all the awesome fun stuff that is happening in our states right now BUT every podcast we’ll always come back to Nhill. Nhill is a town in the Wimmera, in western Victoria, Australia. Nhill is located on the Western Highway, halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne
