Ben has lived in Adelaide for most of his life, except for 3 years in Melbourne which he calls the "Laundry Years" (this is a whole other ep), and Kristy in Melbourne.

When you've been in one city for a long time, people assume you've checked off all the iconic experiences that the city offers. But that's not always the case, so in this episode, we're here to share some of those iconic things you're "supposed" to do in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Nhill, but we've just never gotten around to it. 

But why is that? Are we lazy, uninterested, or do we prefer avoiding touristy activities in our own town? Let's hear where Ben & Kristy are embarrassed to say they have never been.

You will know Mike Tomalaris as the host and presenter of  SBS's Tour de France coverage and who was instrumental in building the profile of the Tour de France here in Australia.

Working at SBS Sport from 1996 to 2021 Mike is an accomplished journalist, television host, voiceover artist, sports commentator, motivational speaker, and ambassador of cycling for Bicycle NSW and promoter of healthy lifestyle and mental health awareness.  In 2022 he was awarded France’s National Order Of Merit which is the country’s second-highest national order after the Legion of Honour.

Mike's voice is perhaps as recognisable as his face. 

• We discuss what the early years were like at SBS and how the opportunity came about to spend 21 years covering the race and traveling to France. 
• He discusses why the Tour de France 🇫🇷  is so magical and talks about some of the biggest advancements in cycling over the years.
• Mike talks to us about his ongoing charity work with Mental Wheels Foundation and also his Bicycle NSW Ambassador role.

Paul is a PhD candidate within the Sports Innovation Research Group at Swinburne University of Technology. Paul’s research project seeks to understand how women Australian Rules footballers’ experience digital self-tracking, and what impacts these interactions have on the player’s selfhood, identity-making and corporeality. Paul has obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Honours (First-Class) specialising in sociology from The Australian National University. His Honours project investigated the compliance processes of employees who were digitally self- tracked in their workplace. Paul has also lectured at Deakin and La Trobe University teaching different sociology, sports sociology and sports management units.
