Two Deep

That sound you hear is UNC's skill players whizzing past Hokie defenders. Unfortunately, VT has now contributed to the "UNC is a playoff contender" narrative. Though it was a very long day for J Ham and the defense, Hendon Hooker is back and the offense looks legit. Pete and Robbie do their best to make sense of what happened, and try to put the loss behind them before previewing Boston College. Hopefully, Tech can get back on track with a solid win at home. We got the W, that's all that matters. After a bit of a sloppy game, the Hokies were lucky to leave Durham at 2-0. Pete and Robbie recap just how fortunate VT was to get the win, and enjoy some beers from New Mexico in the process. Now, a big test awaits down in Chapel Hill vs. the Tarheels. The guys can't wait for this one, and are optimistic about the Hokies' chances despite the DB concerns. Cross your fingers. 1-0! Despite missing starting QB Hendon Hooker and defensive coordinator Justin Hamilton, among others, VT laid the smackdown on NC State to open the season. The offense started off hot, the defense mostly dominated, and our special teams were strong. It was quite a night. Robbie and Pete recap all the action, emphasizing the incredible OL and rushing performance, as well as the impressive depth at QB. The guys then turn their attention to Duke and David Cutcliffe. The Hokies have to take care of business this week to set up a huge matchup with UNC. Once again, every episode is brought to you by Downtown Crown Wine and Beer and Dominion Wine and Beer, the official sponsor of Two Deep's 2020 football coverage.

Game week is finally here! Still crossing our fingers, but, yes, it seems like the Hokies will actually suit up on Saturday. Robbie and Pete tell you everything you need to know about the matchup and are remaining optimistic despite Coach Fu's comments about not having a full roster. NC State is bringing a much-improved offense to Blacksburg, let's hope Bud taught J-Ham well. Once again, every episode is brought to you by Downtown Crown Wine and Beer and Dominion Wine and Beer, the official sponsor of Two Deep's 2020 football coverage.

A wise man once sang, "the waiting is the hardest part." Those words have never been more true for Hokie fans. With the opener pushed back yet another week, Pete and Robbie decided to use this episode to recap some of the ACC action from this past weekend. The guys also interviewed Dave Congrove of collegefootballpoll.com to shed some light on his lofty preseason ranking for VT. If Dave's algorithm is right, it could be a very special season for the Hokies. After weeks of uncertainty, the ACC finally released the new 10-game schedules for the conference. With Notre Dame added for 2020, the road to Charlotte will be a bit tougher for this year's contenders. VT avoids the Irish, but does draw no. 1 Clemson at home. The UVA game has also been moved up to week 2. Lots to unpack in our first episode of the summer, enjoy!
