1-0! It's been a while, but VT finally got a win over a top-10 team in Lane. The defense dominated, and the offense did what it needed to do to secure the victory. It was quite a night in Blacksburg. Robbie and Pete recap all the action, emphasizing the incredible defensive performance, particularly the excellence across the DL. The guys then turn their attention to Middle Tennessee State. The Hokies have to take care of business this week to set up a huge matchup with WVU. Once again, every episode is brought to you by Downtown Crown Wine and Beer and Dominion Wine and Beer, the official sponsor of Two Deep's 2021 football coverage.
It's game week, baby! Lane is sold out for the first time in almost two years and the guys are pumped. Heisman-hopeful Sam Howell poses a stiff challenge for the Hokies' defense, but a loud crowd and a revamped front four should turn up the pressure on him. It's going to be tough, but Robbie and Pete discuss what the Tech offense needs to do to come away with the W. Once again, every episode is brought to you by Downtown Crown Wine and Beer and Dominion Wine and Beer, the official sponsor of Two Deep's 2021 football coverage.
With the opener just days away, it's about time Pete and Robbie fully break down the Hokies' 2021 season. In this episode, the guys discuss preseason rankings, the schedule, and what to expect from both sides of the ball. The podcast is also proud to welcome back our sponsor: Downtown Crown Wine and Beer and Dominion Wine and Beer. This partnership is the perfect marriage for our beer-loving listeners.
Football season is upon us and the guys have some bold predictions that should make VT fans pretty happy. Before getting into that though, Pete and Robbie discuss the bombshell of Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC. What's the fallout going to be like? What happens to the 12-team playoff proposal? A potential alliance between the Big 10, Pac 12, and ACC? They get into all of it before dissecting Tech's position battles, recruiting, and much more. Just a couple more weeks to go before VT takes on the Tar Heels - we can't wait!
Topics for this episode include the transfer portal, recruiting, the spring game, spring practice, position groups, and the upcoming schedule. Summer is officially here, but we'll be back in a couple weeks with more content.
There have been a ton of news items surrounding VT athletics the past few months and the guys are back to cover them all! Topics for this episode include full capacity Lane Stadium, the new CFB Playoff proposal, the Reach For Excellence Campaign, Devon Hunter rejoining the team, Isi Etute, coaching changes, and the NFL Draft. Apologies for the abrupt ending on this one, a combination of technical difficulties and too many topics made this a two-part episode. Look for Part 2 next week.
In just his second year as head coach, Mike Young has the Hokies dancing! In fact, VT is kicking off the tournament this year, playing in Friday's first game at the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse. Pete and Robbie preview the matchup vs. the Florida Gators and layout the roadmap for a Final Four run. Right now, anything seems possible, enjoy the ride!
Tech was able to overcome the loss of Tyrece Radford and take down UVA this past Saturday. Pete and Robbie recap the incredible second half effort and discuss what it could mean come March. It was another huge win for Mike Young and the boys on their quest to make the big dance; unfortunately, the music stopped on Wednesday night with a road loss to Pitt. We'll have to see if VT can bounce back at Miami this weekend. The guys also cover the latest football news and notes, once again tackling the elephant in the room: recruiting. Finally, friend of the podcast Clark Ruhland is putting out the ultimate VT helmet bracket; the guys discuss the classics, and give their favorites, at the end of the episode. Enjoy!
Mike Young has the Hokies off to a fast start this season and Robbie and Pete are pumped. The guys ring in another year of podcasting with all the latest VT football and basketball updates. What positions are getting a boost from the portal? Where do we need some more depth? Could we really win the ACC in hoops? You'll have to listen to find out. Happy New Year!
