Cassidy and I have been blessed and honored to host dozens of local, national, and international authors on our podcasts: "The CC & JT Amateur Hour" and "The Nevada Author Network." On October 11, many of our guests will be gathering for the Sierra Arts Book Fest in Sparks, Nevada. In honor of that event, we reminisce about many of the writers we've been privileged to meet. For anyone thinking about podcasting with writers, I wrote a Substack post about experiences where we learned:
-Writing books is hard but the publishing books is incredibly rewarding.
-Lots and lots of writers arose from dysfunctional childhoods.
-Writers love appearing on podcasts.
-Every writer hates marketing.
-Almost every writer loves coffee.
We will be in Sparks on October 11, and you can also meet us at:
October 18, 2025 – 11am to 4pm: Mark Twain Days Open Air Fair
Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King Street, Carson City
November 1, 2025 – 8am to 4pm: Nevada Day Parade
Carson City (Specific location to be determined)
November 8, 2025 – 1 to 3pm: Barnes and Noble
Signing. 5555 S. Virginia Street, Reno, Nevada.
Our devious plan to point attention at our books is working. People are snatching up the first in the below series now that they’re priced at 99¢ on Amazon:
A Sheriff in Nevada
Finding Salvation Part One
Hope Knocks Twice (The Emma Parks CPS Novels)
Love & Death on I-80 West (The Tucci Chronicles)
Serving Salvation Book One
Thank you for checking us out.

Hello from the Carson City, Nevada Headquarters for the 2025 Race to Wrigley! Today’s podcast had more than the usual amount of caffeine and endorphins.
As usual, we opened our award-winning podcast with current events and where we are in our respective books, and we talked about our upcoming appearances:
October 11, 2025 – All Day: Sierra Arts Foundation Bookfest, Sparks, Nevada.
October 18, 2025 – All Day: Mark Twain Days, 449 W King St, Carson City, Nevada.
November 1, 2025 – All Day: Nevada Day, Carson City, Nevada (Location TBD).
November 8, 2025 – 1:00pm: Barnes & Noble, 5555 S. Virginia Street, Reno, Nevada.
We paid tribute to Nevada icon and CC’s former boss Guy Rocha who passed away this week. He impacted all Nevadans and us personally, and his smile and personality will be missed.
We talked about the fun interviews we’re having through the Nevada Author Network and the Amateur Show. Fascinating to hear how different writers create and struggle with their art. Please check them out on our Writers page.
Our devious plan to point attention at our books is working. People are snatching up the first in the below series now that they’re priced at 99¢ on Amazon. We may expand that to the other platforms (Apple, B&N, Kobo, Google). We encourage writers with book series in their catalogs to consider this idea.
A Sheriff in Nevada
Finding Salvation Part One
Hope Knocks Twice (The Emma Parks CPS Novels)
Love & Death on I-80 West (The Tucci Chronicles)
Serving Salvation Book One
We closed with the podcast with the cover and title reveal of “A Sheriff in Nevada: Corona.” Like all books, creating this was a complex process. We understand the subject matter is not for everyone, but I felt that the words needed to be published.
“A Sheriff in Nevada: Corona” is on presale on Amazon, Apple, B&N, Google, and Kobo. The first e-book in the series, “A Sheriff in Nevada,” is available for 99¢ on Amazon.
And we have one paperback copy on our online bookstore. First come, first serve.
Thank you for joining us in this experience. We cherish and appreciate all of you!

In today’s episode of our award-winning podcast, we discuss our emotional and financial investments in our independent writing and publishing careers (high level), and the results of our energy (low to non-existent). It's hard to spend thousands of hours to write, edit, and publish a book, only to drop it into the vast nothingness called "sales." We talk about this emotional hurdle along with our plans to circumvent it.
