Tragedy struck the SEMO Soccer program in 2012 when senior defender Meg Herndon was involved in a fatal truck-scooter accident. Herndon was was hospitalized for 11 days before passing away on Sept. 20, 2012. This evening, on Meg’s seven year angel anniversary, the Redhawk program will honor Herndon with its annual “Green Up” game at 6:30 p.m. at Houck Stadium. Southeast Missouri student-athletes Grace Powderly and Claire Morrill, both biomedical science majors, spent a week in Honduras undertaking various tasks to assist communities abroad this summer. Jason Collins has joined the Redhawks Gymnastics program as an assistant coach. Collins comes to SEMO after spending one season at Yale. Prior to Yale, he worked as the vice president, chief athletic office, director of men's gymnastics and women's elite team coach at EVO Athletics. Southeast Missouri junior Alana Fischer and Team Canada earned fourth in the women's artistic gymnastics team event at the 2019 FISU (International University Sports Federation) Summer Universiade held July 5 at PalaVesuvio Hall. She was one of more than 300 individuals, including student-athletes, coaches, staff and medical personnel, to represent their respective countries at the competition. Fischer and her teammates totaled a team score of 97.700 for fourth in the seven-team competition.
